Al Sharpton isn’t the only race hustler looking to cash in on the civil unrest in Ferguson — Jesse Jackson is busy making sure people remember that he exists, too, and is ready to gin up some race riots just like his other race-hustler-in-arms. Unfortunately for Jesse Jackson, though, Ben Carson was there to be the voice of reason.
Dr. Ben Carson and Rev. Jesse Jackson joined Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday to discuss the shooting of Michael Brown by a Ferguson, MO police officer two weeks ago. Wallace asked Jackson why he is calling the shooting a “state execution?” Jackson responded:
“What I do know is he was shot unarmed and shot six times and it’s a pattern. Whether it was the killing of Trayvon Martin, the killer walked away free, the killing of Diallo in New York, shot 41 times I believe, they walked away free. The Oscar Grant case in Oakland or the case of Rodney King in L.A. At some point, we require and need to have a sense of justice. All we do know about Mike Brown is, really, he was shot unarmed six times.”
Wallace responded that there are various reports that Brown had assaulted the police officer, Darren Wilson; and since we don’t know all the details, how can Jackson declare a verdict?
… Dr. Ben Carson commented on Jackson’s remarks:
“I think the issues are really much bigger than what has been portrayed and it can’t be resolved in a short segment like this. But, I’ve seen police excesses living in inner-city Detroit and inner-city Boston. But I’ve seen a lot more situations where the police saved the situation. And I’m not sure that this is a ‘police versus black community’ issue.”
“Anger issues get in the way. And if you take race out of the issue all together and you take a group of young men and you raise them with no respect for authority, not learning to take on personal responsibility, having easy access to drugs and alcohol, they’re very likely to end up as victims of violence and incarceration. Has nothing to do with race.”
Jesse Jackson doesn’t care about what the actual reasons for these issues are, of course. He’s out for the same thing as Al Sharpton is: to inflame racial tensions with the sole purpose of lining his own pockets and increasing his fame and notoriety. Sickening, isn’t it?
