Student Faces Expulsion For Playing With Toy Gun In His Own Yard

When do the people responsible for this sort of silliness lose their jobs for it? That’s what needs to happen and it’s what it will take to put a stop to this insane abuse of kids at the hands of adults who have no business dealing with children.

Khalid Caraballo

A suspended seventh-grade student in Virginia Beach, Va., could be expelled for the rest of the school year for shooting an airsoft gun with a friend in his yard as they waited for the bus to come.

Khalid Caraballo, 12, and his friend, Aidan, were suspended for “possession, handling and use of a firearm” because they “shot two other friends who were with them while playing” with the airsoft guns, WAVY-TV reported.

…Caraballo answered “no, sir,” when asked if he took the toy gun to the bus stop or to school.

“We were in our yard. This had nothing to do with school,” the student said.

Caraballo’s mother, Angel, said being punished for “possession, handling and use of a firearm” was “pretty harsh” for a toy that she bought for $25.

So, we had some kids shooting air guns at each other on private property for the fun of it. No threats were made. No one was hurt. No crime was committed. None of the air guns were taken on school property.

The bad guys here aren’t the kids; they’re the people at the school threatening to suspend them for a year. Not only should the kids be allowed back in school, they should sue the school —- and the principal threatening them with expulsion should lose his job.
