Communists & Liberals: What’s The Difference Supposed To Be At This Point?

It’s generally considered over-the-top to compare modern liberals with communists, but that’s because it’s painful to accept such a harsh truth about fellow Americans, not because they aren’t nearly identical.

Both Communists and liberals hate capitalism, the market, and successful people, they don’t have much respect for freedom, and they have a freakish level of confidence in the government that nothing in human history bears out.

Someone like Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid would fit in perfectly in the old Soviet Politburo, just as someone like Fidel Castro could easily adapt to life as a liberal member of Congress. If you think you’d even notice the difference between someone like Fidel Castro and say, Jim McDermott or Bernie Sanders, you’re kidding. They’d vote the same way — say the same sort of dumb things.

Furthermore, ask yourself: if Fidel were our President, how different would his actions be from those Barack Obama has taken so far? Massive increases in the size of government, unsustainable levels of spending, trashing American overseas, attempting to implement government control over industry after industry.

Granted, Fidel has done far worse in Cuba, but that’s because he can do whatever he wants. There are no checks and balances there and he doesn’t have to worry about getting re-elected.

Again, do you think that’s unfair? Maybe you think it is. Well, let’s take a look at how not just liberals, but liberals in Congress, reacted after a meeting with Fidel Castro, a communist dictator who’s implacably hostile to America, utterly opposed to capitalism and democracy, and who has turned his entire island into a giant prison camp,

Key members of the Congressional Black Caucus are calling for an end to U.S. prohibition on travel to Cuba, just hours after a meeting with former Cuban president Fidel Castro in Havana.

“The fifty-year embargo just hasn’t worked,” CBC Chairwoman Barbara Lee (D-Ca.) told reporters this evening at a Capitol press conference after returning from a congressional delegation visit to Cuba. “The bottom line is that we believe its time to open dialogue with Cuba.”

Lee and others heaped praise on Castro, calling him warm and receptive during their discussion. But the lawmakers disputed Castro’s later statement that members of the congressional delegation said American society is still racist.

“It was quite a moment to behold,” Lee said, recalling her moments with Castro.

“It was almost like listening to an old friend,” said Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Il.), adding that he found Castro’s home to be modest and Castro’s wife to be particularly hospitable.

“In my household I told Castro he is known as the ultimate survivor,” Rush said.

Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Ca.) said Castro was receptive to President Obama’s message of turning the page in American foreign policy.

“He listened. He said the exact same thing “about turning the page “as President Obama said,” said Richardson.

Richardson said Castro knew her name and district. “He looked right into my eyes and he said, ‘How can we help? How can we help President Obama?'”

Look at the verbiage there, folks: “heaped praise,” “quite a moment to behold,” “listening to an old friend,” “How can we help? How can we help President Obama?”

Don’t you find it odd that a man who hates America and capitalism with the burning passion of a thousand suns is loved by Democrats and loves Obama in return?

Look at Lenin’s Soviet Union. Look at Mao’s China. Look at Cuba — and don’t delude yourself. Whether you know it or not, if you’re a liberal, that’s the end road of your policies. That’s what you’re embracing. That’s the type of person you are. If that doesn’t trouble you, you are either ignorant, extraordinarily naive, evil, or in need of a serious conscience check.
