You Know You’ve Made It When You’ve Evoked Obama-wrath

These days, I’m not so sure that it’s a BAD thing to be a target of the White House – just take a look at Barack Obama’s approval ratings if you’re in any doubt.

So when it hit the news that the most recent butt of attacks by the President was none other than Americans for Prosperity, all I could think was that I couldn’t wait to congratulate them – you couldn’t pay for better positive publicity.

This was the best “attack” that the President could come up with:

Right now all around this country there are groups with harmless-sounding names like Americans for Prosperity, who are running millions of dollars of ads against Democratic candidates all across the country. And they don’t have to say who exactly the Americans for Prosperity are. You don’t know if it’s a foreign-controlled corporation. You don’t know if it’s a big oil company, or a big bank. You don’t know if it’s a insurance company that wants to see some of the provisions in health reform repealed because it’s good for their bottom line, even if it’s not good for the American people.

Basically, Barak Obama is saying 1) that AFP is challenging Democrat candidates (at which point AFP should thank him for the shout-out), and 2) that he hasn’t done ANY homework on AFP to actually learn about who they are, but since they are fighting Democrats, he’s decided to make his typical biased, uninformed judgment against the conservative organization – and then take childish jabs at them during presidential speeches. At least we know he’s classy.

I have a feeling that AFP’s donations are up this week.

As can only be expected, AFP leaders like Tim Phillips and New Jersey’s very own Steve Lonegan are taking advantage of this free publicity.

Lonegan issued this statement yesterday:

The farcical attack by President Obama against Americans for Prosperity and our 1.3 million citizen activists is the sign of a desperate administration that is losing the battle to patriotic Americans who oppose Mr. Obama’s radical agenda, and who are committed to defending their liberty.

“Americans for Prosperity is supported by real Americans who care about their country. AFP can offer no government contracts, no new entitlement programs and no union bailout packages. AFP gains its strength from the support of those who are committed to defending the American Dream.

“The Obama cronies are seeking the names and addresses of Americans for Prosperity donors for one reason: Revenge.

“All Americans should be threatened by this carefully planned maneuver. They could come after you next.”

Steve’s conclusion is chillingly accurate. Our president has done nothing to hide his petty vindictiveness against any and all who oppose him. Liberty-loving Americans should be wary – but let us not be intimidated.

In fact, it’s the Obama Administration who are intimidated, and justifiably so. Americans For Prosperity has organized a national effort to elect conservatives this November, November is Coming. It’s obviously caught Obama’s attention.

It’s like Tim Phillips, president of AFP, says:

Take heart — the President is attacking us by name. He knows, and the Left knows, we are making a crucial difference.

So congratulations to Tim, Steve Lonegan, and all of Americans for Prosperity. You’ve earned your place on Obama’s blacklist; wear th badge proudly.
