‘Today We Celebrate the Triumph of Democracy’ – President Reagan, D-Day Anniversary Address, June 6, 1984

It doesn’t seem that hard to both honor the dead and cherish our exceptionalism, but of course it’s President Reagan: “Remarks at a United States-France Ceremony Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion, D-day June 6, 1984.” I admire how the video editor made sure to include Reagan’s approach the podium. No arrogance or hubris, only humility and responsibility to respect the sacrifices of those gone before:
