Obama Tops Dan Quayle: He Actually Spelled “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” Wrong At A Performance by Aretha Franklin

Here’s yet another Obama gaffe ignored by the mainstream media and late-night comics. On Thursday night, Obama paid tribute to soul legend Aretha Franklin…but misspelled “R-E-S-P-E-C-T.”

At least the audience thought it was funny.

In addressing the crowd, Mr. Obama said, “When Aretha first told us what R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her…”

He was interrupted by laughter, paused, then continued, “She had no idea it would become a rallying cry for African-Americans, and women, and then everyone who felt marginalized because of what they looked like or who they loved. They wanted some respect. Later, when somebody asked her why it had such an impact, she said, ‘I guess everybody just wants a little respect.’ Today, they still do.”

Everyone knows that George W. Bush once uttered the sentence “is our children learning?” The media used it over and over again as a reminder that he’s a small-minded simpleton.:  But when Obama screws up, it’s supposed to tell us absolutely nothing about his mental faculties.
