It just might, if this Rasmussen surveyis correct:

King Middle School in Portland, Maine recently joined the small group of middle schools that distribute birth control pills to their students. Most Americans aren’t impressed. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 71% of American adults think it’s a bad idea.

Just 19% of Americans nationwide say that middle schools should make the birth control pills available to students.

A middle school may include grades six through eight or seven through nine, depending on the district. The students are usually pre-teens and young teens.

Republicans (85%) are more likely to oppose the King Middle School policy than Democrats (62%).

Twenty-nine percent (29%) of pro-choice voters support Middle School distribution of the pills. Only 7% of pro-life voters agree.

Flabbergasting that nearly 40% of Democrats polled think its ok for a stranger to give a condom to their 12 year old…well, truth be told, they didn’t think of it that way; I’ll bet most of them just think its ok for the government to pass out condoms to those other kids; you know, those kids not being raised by a progressive family which has had their one or two designer children and then had a vasectomy and tubal ligation…

At any rate, other than that anomaly, it seems that most people instinctively know that passing out condoms to pre-teens is, well, something that a child molestor might do, but not something that a responsible adult who cares about children would do. One of the things which never ceases to amaze me is just how out of touch the left is – the left thought this one up, and probably couldn’t think of a single reason why anyone would object…
