Are Barack Obama, Markos Moulitsas, And The Huffington Post To Blame For The Holocaust Museum Shooting?

Earlier this week, deranged white supremacist Truther James Von Brunn, fatally shot a guard at the Holocaust Museum.

In the days since, crucial information has leaked out about Von Brunn. He’s a registered Democrat from Maryland. He hated George Bush, other people he believed were “neo-conservatives,” and Christianity. According to the FBI, Von Brunn may have even been scoping out the conservative Weekly Standard for a possible attack.

Given his background, we need to ask: are liberals like Barack Obama, Markos Moulitsas, And the Huffington Post responsible for Von Brunn’s attack?

Barack Obama is the most anti-Israeli President we’ve had in the White House in decades and given the anti-Semitic comments of his former spiritual mentor, Jeremiah Wright, perhaps there’s a very simple explanation for his anti-Israeli policy,

“Them Jews aren’t going to let (Barack Obama) talk to me. I told my baby daughter, that he’ll talk to me in five years when he’s a lame duck, or in eight years when he’s out of office. …They will not let him to talk to somebody who calls a spade what it is. … I said from the beginning: He’s a politician; I’m a pastor. He’s got to do what politicians do.

Ironically, since Jews tend to vote Democratic, it’s conservatives, not liberals who tend to be steadfastly pro-Israel and opposed to anti-Semitism, which has been mainstreamed on the Left. Unfortunately, anti-Semitism often shows up on important Democratic blogs like Markos Moulitsas’ Daily Kos where diaries like this one are not an unusual occurrence.

Additionally, the Left has spent the last few years spewing horrific and violent rhetoric like this quotation from the Huffington Post,

“What if another terror attack just before this fall’s elections could save many thousand-times the lives lost? I start from the premise that there is already a substantial portion of the electorate that tends to vote GOP because they feel that Bush has “kept us safe,” and that the Republicans do a better job combating terrorism. If an attack occurred just before the elections, I have to think that at least a few of the voters who persist in this “Bush has kept us safe” thinking would realize the fallacy they have been under. If 5% of the “he’s kept us safe” revise their thinking enough to vote Democrat, well, then, the Dems could recapture the House and the Senate…” — Russell Shaw at the Huffington Post

Will Russell Shaw and his fellow writers at the Huffington Post be celebrating today because what could fairly be termed an act of domestic terrorism has occurred or will they be upset because they’re not sure that they can gain any electoral benefit from it?

While it’s tempting to blame the Left for James Von Brunn’s actions, as they have tried to do to the Right, I think it’s worth repeating the same words I wrote back in October of last year when HuffPo blogger Carol Anne Burger stabbed her roommate 222 times and then killed herself,

Definitely file Carol Anne Burger’s name away for future use. Eventually, some blogger on the Right will do something incredibly stupid or criminal and the Left will immediately declare that person is representative of all conservative bloggers. That’s when you bust out Carol Anne Burger’s name.

Although I do believe James Von Brunn has much more in common with the Left than the Right, I don’t believe Barack Obama, Markos Moulitsas, and the Huffington Post are to blame for the Holocaust Museum shooting. There are always going to be crazies out there and in tough economic times, particularly when we have a radical President making dangerous changes that could threaten the continued prosperity of our country, a small percentage of them are going to act out. That’s just the sad reality of the human condition.
