Media Malpractice: NY Daily News injects ‘race’ into details of “Django Unchained” actress Danièle Watts detainment by LAPD: Citizens complaint she performed sex act in car
Daniele Watts, black ‘Django Unchained’ actress, mistaken for prostitute, handcuffed and detained by police after kissing white boyfriend
I said in my post that I was very skeptical of the details of the story as reported. It just didn’t make sense that an LAPD police officer would slap handcuffs on a Black woman for kissing a white guy and jump to the conclusion that she was a prostitute. The NY Daily News reported just her version of what happened as if it were the Gospel truth. The inference was the police officer was racist.
Well in less than 24 hours more details emerged and it turned out that the LAPD officer involved acted appropriately and lawfully by placing Watts in handcuffs for refusing to submit identification to the officer.
A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC News that officers were responding to a “citizen complaint of indecent exposure” after someone called 911 to complain two people were engaged in a “sexual act” inside a vehicle with an open door. She would not say what constitutes a sexual act or indecent exposure, but said that two individuals were detained, questioned and let go. A written statement issued by the LAPD Sunday evening confirmed that Watts and a companion had been briefly detained, but “upon further investigation it was determined that no crime had been committed.” The statement added that “an internal complaint investigation has been initiated regarding this matter.”
So the cops are called to a scene where an alleged sex act was taking place in pubic inside a car with an open door. Standard procedure is to request for identification and she refused to give it up. Pardon the pun!
The New York Daily News, a news source I frequently use on this blog, did not have any of these additional details. They were content to report the story as a racial incident as is the normal practice by the Liberal corrupt media.
Let’s face it, Danièle Watts had a small role in Django Unchained. She wasn’t the Black actress who won an Oscar. That was somebody else. So I guess she wanted to get some free pub for herself and the Liberal media totally obliged her.
