In order to recognize the excellent work some of our fellow warbloggers have been doing, RWN created the first annual "Warblogger Awards". More than 125 bloggers were invited to vote for their favorite blog in numerous categories. Of the 125 bloggers who were invited to judge the contest, 67 responded. Here are the rules of the contest...
1) Each blogger was allowed to cast only 1 vote in each category except in the "The Best Blog Overall," in which up to 5 votes were allowed.
2) The judges were not allowed to vote for their own blogs or Right Wing News since we're sponsoring the contest.
RWN also took steps to insure that the balloting would be as fair as possible. Collaboration was explicitly forbidden in the rules. Furthermore, only a handful of people knew about the contest beforehand, the list of judges was kept secret -- until now, and the judges were only given 48 hours to make their selections.
There are three other things I'd like to bring up. Since most warbloggers lean to the right, most of our judges did as well. Also, one category was dropped because I decided that the wording of the question was erroneous. Last but not least, although he received enough votes to be ranked, Jonah Goldberg was disqualified from the "Favorite Editorial Writer Who's Not A Blogger," category because he regularly writes for, The Corner.
