A Short Open Letter To Joe Wilson: Reconsider And Run Against Lindsey Graham In 2014

Dear Joe Wilson:

Republicans in South Carolina need your help. Now that Tim Scott has been drafted to fill Jim DeMint’s shoes, you may be the only man who can free us of Lindsey Graham.

We remember that Lindsey Graham was one of the biggest supporters of amnesty. We remember Graham trashing the Tea Party, “The problem with the Tea Party, I think it’s just unsustainable because they can never come up with a coherent vision for governing the country. It will die out. …Everything I’m doing now in terms of talking about climate, talking about immigration, talking about Gitmo is completely opposite of where the Tea Party movement’s at.”

He voted for Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan; he’s made it known that he’s eager to raise taxes, he’s pro-cap and trade.

Graham is an obnoxious, unprincipled, country club Republican who holds his own constituents in contempt and cares more about the opinion of the New York Times than the Republican base. If most conservatives could only pick one Republican that they could knock off in all of Congress, it would be Lindsey Graham.

Yes, the Republican establishment, the consultant class and the liberal media will bend over backwards to help Lindsey Graham win a primary. Of course, all those same people supported Charlie Crist over Marco Rubio, Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey, Trey Greyson over Rand Paul and Robert Bennett over Mike Lee.

If you run against Graham, the conservative movement will fall in behind you. You will have all the money, coverage and volunteers you need to knock Graham off in a primary and even Romney managed to take South Carolina by 11, which means you’ve got the seat in the bag if you run.

If a credible Republican candidate runs against Lindsey Graham in 2014, he will be defeated. That Senate seat is yours if you want it. Run for yourself, your family, for South Carolina, for the conservative movement, the Republican Party and for your country.

We need you. Don’t let us down, Joe.
