Day One Disaster: Tech Problems Stop MSNBC Host From Signing Up For Obamacare On Air

Obamacare rolled out yesterday and it was a complete and utter disaster. How bad was it? A MSNBC host trying to show how easy it was to sign up for an exchange and after multiple website crashes and a long hold time, gave up without being able to sign up.

MSNBC anchor Mara Schiavocampo had an aggravating experience when she attempted to sign up for the health insurance exchanges which opened on Tuesday. She did her best to navigate a glitching website and talk to a representative to resolve her issues, but had no luck in signing up for that aspect of the Affordable Care Act.

Schiavocampo began by walking viewers through the log-in process on the New York state exchange website.

“So this is step two, filling out personal information about me and my family before I get to the final step of choosing a plan,” she said. “I keep getting this error page. It won’t let me progress past identifying – it won’t let me progress past verifying personal information, so I’m going to call the help number and see what they have to say.”

Incidentally, CNN had the same experience. So, not only are Americans losing their jobs, being cut back to part-time, losing their health care, seeing massive increases in costs, and facing doctor shortages, death panels, and massive cost overruns, but also despite working on the basic sign-up software FOR YEARS, it’s still garbage.

Gee, what was Barack Obama saying yesterday?

“[S]tarting today, you and your friends and your family and your coworkers can get covered, too. Just visit healthcare.gov, and there you can compare insurance plans, side by side, the same way you’d shop for a plane ticket on Kayak or a TV on Amazon.” — Barack Obama

Except Amazon works, while Obamacare is a government-mandated trainwreck.
