John Stephenson ACLU: That Fishy Email Thing Ain't No Big Deal

You just have to trust Barry, cause he is just so cute and fuzzy!

The ACLU said in a statement to FOXNews.com that the White House blog is a "bad idea that could send a troublesome message."

But the organization added, "While it is unclear at this point what the government is doing with the information it is collecting, critics of the administration's health care proposal should not fear that their names will end up in some government database that could be used to chill their right to free speech."

As Slublog at Ace of Spades points out, the ACLU was all up in arms about something Ari Fleisher said years back. Nowadays, you just have to trust Obama. They already blew me off about it. Oh, how times change.

Say, as an added note, I wonder how the ACLU feels about the demonization of the anti-government health system protesters by the President, along with many others?

The First Amendment guarantees us all the right to express our views and be heard by our elected officials. For years, the ACLU has fought the White House policy of shielding the president from dissent. The First Amendment protects the right to free speech, but that right is undermined if protesters can't be heard.

Anyone want to bet shots of tequila that if you quoted those words back to the ACLU regarding the demonization of the TEA Party folks, they would blow you off like $10....... well, you know.

Update by Jay: It was a big deal when the Bush admin. was collecting names of known terrorists... then the ACLU got all huff and puff!
