John Hawkins The Democrats' Rush Billboard Fail

Although I think the Democratic attacks on Rush are doing very little for them even as they build up his audience, there was one particular piece of their campaign that was worth copying,

...The RNC could learn something from the "Send Rush a message" contest that the Democratic Party is running,

We'll go through all of the slogans you submit, and the winner will have his or her submission appear on a billboard in Rush Limbaugh's hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida -- and receive a free T-shirt featuring the winning slogan.

Please keep your suggestion to ten words or fewer.

It's an innovative idea, encourages people to participate, gathers email addresses that can be later used for fundraising, will reward someone in the grassroots for making a suggestion, and will get media attention.

Why shouldn't the GOP do the same thing with Barack Obama or better yet -- Harry Reid? Why would Reid be even better than Barack Obama? Because Harry Reid is actually up for re-election in 2010 and is vulnerable. Why not have a contest, get a slogan, and put it up on a billboard in his home town? Then if it works, why not have a contest for Chris Dodd? How about John Murtha?

Well, the idea may have been boffo, but the contest is now over and the execution? Wow, did it leave something to be desired,

The DNC began soliciting slogans a week ago in response to Limbaugh's well-known statement that he wants President Obama to fail.

...That message has apparently been decided. CNN is reporting that the billboard will say, "Americans didn't vote for a Rush to failure."

Apparently, more than 80,000 slogans were emailed in and astonishingly all were somehow deemed worse than that one.

That's right, folks, there were 80,000 suggestions and they came up with this,

Democratic Rush Billboard

Cough, cough, so lame, cough, cough. That's what happens when you have play it safe, DC weenies, trying to do something creative.

In fact, just to show these guys how it's done, I'd like RWN's readers to make some suggestions for a Barack Obama billboard. Imagine your slogan, 10 words or less, on a billboard and on Monday, I'll photoshop the best ones in place and we'll let everyone vote on the winner.
