Now, once you get done laughing at that, Jack Dunphy at Patterico's has a flashback video of Milton Friedman in 1979 laying the law down to Phil Donahue on the merits of capitalism and free markets. That one will get your motor runnin'.

We need more Milton Friedmans speaking out today, and a lot less Phil Donahues.

This all brings to mind another debate taking place around all the pushing and shoving going on over the stimulus package: with what has amounted to government ownership of banks now, as well as having a big hand in other industries, and a de-emphasis put on the personal responsiblity of the individual citizen in favor of "government rescue," are we now going the way of Europe - never to return?
