America's most influential blog is the Daily Kos. Democratic members of Congress post on the blog, Democratic presidential contenders cater to them, and Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas is considered to be a mainstream figure amongst Democrats.
Keep all of that in mind as you read these excerpts and quotes, all of which come from the Daily Kos writers, not from commenters on the blog:
10) "I wrote a diary a short time ago about how the Bush administration helped ruin my marriage. It wasn't because my husband was a Bush supporter or anything...it was because of all the stresses from job loses, living without health insurance and getting sick, to my husband being forced to take a job where he wasn't home much that helped ruin my marriage." -- angrybird
9) Islamic Countries Can Suck Jesus's Chocolate Covered C***...Meanwhile, over here in this part of never, never land, the Catholic crazies are all freaked out over a chocolate Jesus. So what????????
I just don't get it. I'm being literal. I don't understand what's offensive about a chocolate Jesus. Maybe I didn't read the part of the Bible that talks about not making graven images of the Lord in chocolate (and it's possible, since the Bible has so many other things that are institutionally nuts I wouldn't rule it out). Why does anyone care that it's in chocolate?
...The other part of this so-called chocolate Jesus controversy is his c*ck. Apparently he has one. Someone hide the children. It turns out humans have d*cks. No, you don't say.
My guess is that if Jesus actually existed he would get a good belly laugh out of people being offended that he had a penis. Yeah, don't worry about feeding the poor or anything. Just obsess over Jesus's chocolate covered penis. I'm sure that's what the good Lord would have wanted.
So, is the argument that Jesus didn't have a d*ck?" -- Cenk Uygur
8) "I know I'm a Jewish lesbian and (Ahmadinejad would) probably have me killed. But still, the guy speaks some blunt truths about the Bush Administration that make me swoon...Okay, I admit it. Part of it is that he just looks cuddly. Possibly cuddly enough to turn me straight. I think he kind of looks like Kermit the Frog. Sort of. With smaller eyes. But that's not all...
I want to be very clear. There are certainly many things about Ahmadinejad that I abhor -- locking up dissidents, executing of gay folks, denying the fact of the Holocaust, potentially adding another dangerous nuclear power to the world and, in general, stifling democracy. Even still, I can't help but be turned on by his frank rhetoric calling out the horrors of the Bush Administration and, for that matter, generations of US foreign policy preceding." -- sallykohn
7) "When *ss-kissing chickensh*t David Petraeus lied his *ss off before Congress about the failed "surge", capitol hill police tackled and arrested a pentecostal minister, damaging his ankle in the process....If you think America isn't undergoing the same slide into fascist dictatorship today as Germany did in the 1930s, you're kidding yourself.
...Those two reasons, more than the brutal assaults on people and the First Amendment, are why America is devolving into a bad replay of Nazi Germany. The lack of national outrage, to the point we do something about it; and the support of it by mindless groupthinkers in society who are so stupid they think it's a good thing that we're being subjected to tyranny." -- Archangel M
6) "Is Congress being blackmailed by W.H.?Is it spinelessness, political caution (to get Ind. voters in 2008), financial profiteering from Mil/Ind Complex investments, lack of conviction, or simply not being good at stopping Rethug's from blocking legislation that makes our Congress ineffectual? Or is there another, more nefarious, reason for their inability to stand up to White House?
I made a comment, earlier, about how Pelosi talked tough to W.H. but, then, backed down on everything. Senate can't put up any real fights, either. Couldn't even nab Gonzo. Now we get the FISA-Telecomm deal. I got to wondering if lots of Dem. Congress People are being blackmailed. That would explain a lot of folding and playing dead. Wireless surveillance could have been done on our House/Senate people, learning things that Rove could use, and now they're afraid. Maybe they were even quietly threatened with plantings of drugs, kid porn, gay porn, National Review...that kind of sorted thing. You get tagged with any of this stuff and your career is over." --rainmanjr
5) "I have never in my 50 years of life been more frightened then I am now. I have seen the arrogance of this White House and the massive damage done to our country. But the Katrina-size storm clouds are gathering folks. If we do not wake up now and flood Congress to impeach the President and Vice President, one year from now, Daily Kos may be banned and Markos himself may be disappeared, in a federal prison somewhere.....This is deadly serious folks. This is not just another diary. We ignore this threat at our own peril. I would suggest even I in writing articles like this and the many writers at Daily Kos are personally at risk of being arrested in a future dictatorial United States. The government will use these writings as an excuse to put us away.
....I say WAKE UP Daily Kos!! If the people at Daily Kos cannot take this seriously and try and do something about it, then the United States, as a free country IS doomed. Enjoy your freedom to read and write at such sites as Daily Kos, because that freedom will be taken away WHEN Bush declares martial law." -- slw0606
4) "And anyone -- Liebercrat or Republican -- who stands to oppose impeachment, conviction and removal should be tried for their role as accomplice in the sedition and treason against the United States. No more should they be permitted to hide behind snivelling protocols and talk out both sides of their mouths -- either they are with the nation, or they are part of the criminal conspiracy currently thwarting the will of both Congress and the People." -- GreyHawk
3) "...We need to lose this war and not start the next one so that we can remain a free people. Diminished on the world stage? Perhaps, like Great Britain was diminished when it surrendered its colonial empire. But free." -- bluedogtxn
2) The parallels are undeniable, and I see only one solution if America, The Grand Experiment, is to survive.I want to stand by and watch it all blow up.
I want the dollar to plunge to worthless paper.
I want the stock market to implode.
I want the economy to plunge into chaos.
I want the Chinese to call in all the debt they hold.
I want an economic meltdown of such staggering proportion that even that idiot on Bill Moyer's Journal who does not know the difference between a State Constitution and the United States Constitution, is forced to look around in mild surprise and wonder what the hell happened.
Only total economic destruction will get the attention of the fools.
...And I want it now, before this inept, self-serving Congress allows the Facists one more opportunity to fully convert this from the United States of America, into the 4th Reich." -- Granny Doc
1) "But do I still support the individual men and women who have given so much to serve their country? No. I think they're a bunch of idiots. I also think they're morally retarded. Because they sign a contract that says they will kill whoever you tell me to kill. And that is morally retarded.Friends, the most important moral decision a man makes in the course of a day is "Who am I going to kill today?" That's a decision you should agonize over, dream about, rehearse in your mind for hours, not just leave up to some hare-brained President you didn't even vote for.
A man's killing list is a very personal matter. It should be between him and those persistent voices in his head. So to sum up, I don't like our troops, I don't like what they're doing, I don't like their fat, whining families, and yet, I support them. Thank God I live in a free country. Thank You." -- AWhitneyBrown

Here's a good explanation:
"It was only *after* the soviet regime became unmistakably totalitarian that English intellectuals, in large numbers,
began to show interest in it," Orwell wrote. "Burnham is really voicing their secret wish: the wish to destroy the old equalitarian version of Socialism and usher in a hierarchical society where the intellectual can at last get his hands on the whip."

Well, that's the root of the problem: so-called "intellectuals" support totalitarianism because they think they'll be in charge after the glorious revolution. In reality -- although these people have no concept of or connection to reality -- they'll be the first ones up against the wall.

Precisely. You think Stalin was an "intellectual"? Hell no. He was an opportunistic, sociopathic thug who used those idealistic "useful idiots" to put himself in a position to take control. Once again proving, much to the intectuals' chagrin, that the guy with the guns and the will to use them is always the one in charge.

Also, rememebr that one of Stalin's purges was against, The Intellectuals. That is what makes Liberals' positions so mind-numbingly stupid. If they get their way and institute the type of government they want, they themselves will become the victims of it.

You know, there is a theory, that if you were to throw yourself at a wall an infinite amount of times, eventually all the atoms of your body and the atoms of the wall would be in perfect alignment and you would pass right through it. I consider that possibility of higher probability then getting a reasonable conversation out of the insane such as depicted above.
We say it all the time, liberalism is a mental disorder and one that probably cannot be treated as logic no longer exists in their fantasy world.

We, as a nation, have turned our back against God and allowed evil and perverted people to keep our children from hearing the Word of God.

I might disagree with the gallery owner's choice. Think he should be mocked or ridiculed or generally "punished" by social methods common to all human societies.
Should he/she be executed? no.
Should he/she be threatened with death? no.
Should he/she stand up to unreasonable bullies? yes.
Just like with the mohammed cartoons.

Your comparison is ridiculous, TpD, and you know it. That's coming from a nonChristian.
When was the last time a Christian killed someone for mocking Christianity here in America? Please cite an instance of that occurring for me. When was the last time Christians rioted in the streets over an insult (percieved or otherwise) to their religion? How many cars and buildings did they set ablaze?
Your attempt at equivocation is laughable, but yeah the "artist" had the right to creat Chocolate Jesus and the gallery owner had the right to display it. No question about it.

I wasn't trying to suggest the Catholic wack jobs are as crazy as the Islamic wack jobs. (Perhaps Catholic fatwa was a poor phrase choice). You're right, the comparison is not even close. I just want to make sure that everyone here is supporting the right to mock and criticize all religions equally. And to be honest, I don't even know if that's what the chocolate sculptor guy was going for. Was he mocking? I'm not sure. Sculptures made out of food are not my cup of tea. (pun intended). That the gallery owner was intimidated into cancelling the show is just a gross violation of free expression of our ideas, which I will say is million times more important to our country's identity and vitality than its "Christian" history.

I wasn't really paying attention to the story anyway (it was a bit of a non-issue for me since the Bible very clearly says that followers of Christ will be subjected to insults and degradations and that we should ignore them and hold our heads high).
Having said that, I think comparing this incident to the Mohammed Cartoons is way off base. As GOB points out, Christians don't riot, destroy property, or kill people when we feel insulted. We bitch and moan, to be sure, but very rarely do we kill people. And even when a Christian DOES kill someone for something as silly as this, that "Christian" is condemned by the entire community.
Muslims cannot say the same.

Each administration will be brought to justice in good order. I'm still trying to educate the American people about the "Illinois Gang" conspiracy led by Lincoln which resulted in the takeover of America by corporate America.
1)While the media portrayed the wily railroad attorney Lincoln as a bumbling ,dumb, hick, Lincoln orchestrated a war which would permanantly take power away from the grassroots farmer and give control of this nation's future to "Big Railroad."
2)Using the pretense of the bombing of Fort Sumter, Lincoln invaded a semi-foreign land ( Virginia) resulting in a horrible 4 year war and the death and maiming of 1/2 million American boys.
* Footnote: Many believe the explosions at Fort Sumter were actually internal in origin.
3) Instituted a criminal and unconstitutional illegal wire-tapping system of the American telegraph network. Suspended habeus corpus and imprisoned hundred of citizens that he and his cohorts claimed to be traitors.
4) Detained thousands of American citizens and sent them to concentration camps in the North where they were murdered by the lack of adequate health care.
5)Ridiculously claimed that the war's purpose was to bring freedom to a certain population when in reality it was conducted for the benefit of the railroad corporations.
Next I will attempt to expose the traitorous, criminal political activity of the Van Buren administration.

her justification for her statements is so flawed... it is the old Mussolini bit... "Yes, but at least the trains were on time"... it is amazing to me that someone can take the summation of all the terrible things that Ahmadinejad represents (she even lists SOME things) and then still say... "But he makes fun of Bush and the U.S. foreign policy"... "He's alright by me!!!"...
I think that if "sallykohn" were to be transported and dropped into the middle of an Iranian street she might reconsider how cute she was being... something like this might/would happen-> http://www.inthesetimes.com/article/2458/
(I found that by typing "gay" and "iran" in google) 2 seconds...
I MEAN ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?
I hate American so much that I am willing to jump and endorse anyone that opposes America as well... I will look at and recognize that everything else that the person represents is abhorrent... but so long as they laugh at and ridicule America here and maybe there, I will look past the rest...
it must be the same thing that goes through Kevin Spacey's and Sean Penn's heads...
if liberals were the majority...Satan himself could run for President; bust out a couple Bush jokes, talk about how the U.S. deserves retribution for all the problems in the world and he/she would be President in no time...
damn it... it was a rant after all...

OK I apologize. everyone here is probably fully aware how loony that site is, I just had to say something I was so amazed. I think National Inquirer is better place to get news than that site. Ok Ill stop now.

I liked number 5...
"If we do not wake up now and flood Congress to impeach the President and Vice President, one year from now, Daily Kos may be banned and Markos himself may be disappeared, in a federal prison somewhere."
Yeah yeah, impeach Chimpy McHitler. We know, we know.
Kos in prison? What a tantalizing idea. Brought up on charges of aiding and abetting our enemies, via use of libel of political figures on the World Wide Web.
Maybe it's the FBI checked this fellow out and made sure he hasn't got anything to hide.

Hawkins said that these quotes come from Kos "writers." They don't. The main page at Kos has 4-5 writers, including Kos.
Daily Kos, the site, also has a "diary" feature. Anyone can get a DK diary. These diaries are publicly accessible: anyone can get one.
Hawkins pulled these quotes from the diaries. Not from the writers on the main page.

Story #2: North Vietnamese General: America Lost at Home
RUSH: How many of you remember the name General Giap from the North Vietnamese army? ... He's published his memoirs and here's a pull quote:
[General Giap]"What we still don't understand is why you Americans stopped the bombing of Hanoi. ... But we were elated to notice that your media was definitely helping us. They were causing more disruption in America than we could in the battlefield."

Do they really want America to disintegrate? Because if that does happen, the changed environment in America probably wouldn't be so tolerant to the deranged who sit in their basements tracking plots while enjoying the blanket of freedom and security America provides.
It is all hyperbole. They don't actually want that trust fund to disappear into an electronic ether of numbers which would mean no food, no housing, and no electricity to run their computers. They just want to be in CHARGE!

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Well, the Agenda they follow is CLEARLY LABELED:
"Agenda For the Destruction of America", from the inside.
So how can they not be intending their CONSISTENT behavior?
Anyone else watches their own consequences, their own wake, and like a child has to notice if their wild sashay through the room knocks a glass of liquid off a coffee table, spilling the contents and smashing the glass to pieces, so should an adult notice if all the consequences of ALL their "WELL-MEANING" political policies is destruction only, and never positive, healthy thriving constructive work.
Which of them would tolerate the same level of destruction by their friends to their own home? CONSISTENTLY???
We are silly for listening to their platitudes when they made their techniques plain in the '60's - "practice saying something various ways, until you are comfortable saying what they want to hear without violating your conscience."
It was their favorite game to learn in college in the late 50's and early 60's. They even frequently made a game of it as they practiced to prove the lie detector was unreliable because they could do it so easily, and do it good enough to fool the machine.
50 years later, after all the con games played on us by shysters of every sort, advertizers and con artists coming through your neighborhood with "new roofs" and a "found check" if you would just put it in your checking account, and hold this cash envelope...pyramid schemes, ponzi schemes - and we still think the most consistent people on the planet are only "accidently" causing all this damage???
That takes our naivete to incredible heights.
When is the last time you ever saw the Liberals ACCIDENTLY do something that backfired and was BENEFICIAL to America???

There it is in a nutshell!
And yet American Conservatives continue to treat them as if they are genuinely attempting to be benvolent creatures!
The truth is only the rottenness of a creature eaten up with such self-consuming jealousy and greed and envy can be comfortable with the idea of becoming an oppressor to their own neighbors, and thus be b rought to the fallen state of being willing to consider Socialism, Marxism, and Stalinism as viable optins for the foundation of their political policies.
It doesn't really get any more depraved. Their fruit bears them witness.
They have gotten to the point that they openly march and argue for the rights of housethieves over the homeowner - as they are currently doing, down in Houston.

Interestingly, very few republicans condemned craig for being gay. Rather, they were offended he broke the law.
And I give them credit for this. It's taken a while but most republicans have come around to the idea that there's no reason anymore to persecute a person for sexual orientation. But I also give credit to the Democratic party and the gay activists for the good work they've done in pushing this position.
All in all it's good for america.

POS, it doesn't matter if the feature is diarists, they are still endorsed and condoned by kos. It is typical of leftists sites such as kos du huffpo etc. it also typical of leftist radio, leftist rants, and the demoncritic party speech. Just today ol reid went off on how the U.S. should surrender to iran because they are just so nice. Wake up and smell the coffee little girl, your leftists heros are suffering from a mental and biological disorder. they need treatment, pity and sympathy, not justification for their actions. Like I said it doesn't matter if the quotes came from the main or not, they are still endorsed by dkos, it is part of the culture there, these idiotic posts are there everyday, never scrutinized, never disavowed. I know Red State, Malkin, and other conservative blogs remove posts that are riddled with profanity, in bad taste, or threatening. kos, du, huffpo, etc do not. therefore they condone the behavior.

On the other hand, you totally skipped analyzing the philosophical basis that allows these hilarious missives to be formulated by DK posters.
Anyone can get a diary at DK, just like anyone can comment at a blog, and the DK diaries are not moderated any more heavily than most blogs' comments sections.

Really? This is from dKospedia, the official wiki of the Daily Kos:
ALL of the diaries above are in flagrant violation of these three policies. Since Kos has not deleted any of them, he clearly approves of them and does not believe them to be inflammatory. Probably because he agrees (if he didn't agree, why hasn't he deleted them?).

Yeah, right. This from a leftist who has been spewing personal insults like idiot and cretin from his/her first post.
Yes, I have seen posts as hateful as the DailyKos posts above, by professed coservatives on this site. The vast majority are by drive-by posters.
However, I have never seen them stand, without being challenged...and sometimes later deleted.
In the event a regular contributor makes a hateful remark, they are chastized and apologize. Every time.
Vastly different. Then again, this site is also vastly different from DKos because they actually allow dissenters here...if they are civil...unlike this jerk-off, "thers."

Right, that's what I was touching on above. Thers doesn't see the parallel I was drawing and rejects it not because a parallel can't exist but because he has no problem with what the Kos diarists say and considers anything anyone on the right does bad to be "hate speech" and thus in an innately sinful, unforgivable category. There cannot be hate speech on the left because once it becomes hate speech it no longer is leftist writing. That's the set of rules he's working with.
That and the assumption that someone writing on the Daily Kos website somehow isn't a writer for Daily Kos until they are officially on the team. Writing nonsense and horrible stuff like John quoted is unacceptable, you can't shrug and say 'well I didn't write it' as if that's some excuse or lets you off the hook.

Honestly I doubt he thinks that, but he wants other people to think that because of how embarrassing and awful they are. The sad part is I wouldn't be surprised a bit to find out if he nodded as he read each one. It's a pretty common thing in the radical left, they know they ought not agree with some things, they know that publicly that will look terrible and repulse people so they make the right noises to seem distant while never actually repudiating or disagreeing with what is said.
