Morning, y'all, Jebediah Murphy here on another fine White Trash Wednesday. But, hey, I done run across an interesting story at that thar Defeatocratic Underground, which has apparently been missed by most of the MSM and those of us here in the 'sphere. The Washington Post was nice enough to have a small blurb on page A5 this past Sunday. Y'all ready?

Federal prosecutors on Friday accused Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-La.) of soliciting bribes in two alleged schemes that had not been previously disclosed.

The allegations, detailed in a seven-page document filed in U.S. District Court in Alexandria, will not result in new charges, prosecutors said, but they plan to present them during Jefferson's federal bribery trial as evidence of a pattern of intentional wrongdoing.

In 2002, the government alleges, Jefferson asked a lobbyist of a U.S. oil service company for $10,000 a month for a family member in exchange for Jefferson's assisting the company in promoting business in Africa. The lobbyist turned down Jefferson's request, the document said.

Three years later, according to the filing, Jefferson allegedly agreed to urge NASA in a letter to consider doing business with a U.S. rocket technology and rocket launch services company. In exchange, the company allegedly agreed to pay Jefferson's family business and a relative.

Well, isn't that special? Now, what do y'all reckon would happen if William Jefferson (D-La) was a Republican? Would the Democrats be a screaming from the Capital hilltop for him to resign? Making "impromptu" speeches in front of every camera they can find? Keith Olbermann and Chrissy Matthews (yes, PMSNBC and those two still broadcast. Amazing, isn't it?) would be having orgasmic apoplectic fits, requiring large numbers of Windex cleaner cloths for the cameras. The DU, Kos, MyDD, and all the others in the port side seetheternet would be issuing IMPORTANT ACTION ALERTS, creating petitions, telling their peeps to write letters to the editor, and organizing marches. Heck, we could probably even get a good scream from Howie Dean-who, BTW, is pretty much relegated to obscurity by even the official Democrat website.

Will Nancy and the Pussycats Democrats tell him to just resign now?

I will give some kudos to some of them thar Democratic Underground folks, who actually have some disparaging words to say regarding William Jefferson (D-La.)
