John Hawkins MoveOn Targets Pro-Surge Democrat

There are enough of these incidents now that I've actually created a "blue-on-blue" category to keep up with them all,

Rep. Brian Baird's (D-Wash.) recent conversion on the Iraq war is beginning to affect more than the national dialogue. On Wednesday, liberal group MoveOn.org announced an ad campaign against the congressman in his own district.

Baird recently returned from a trip to Iraq and reversed his position on a withdrawal timetable, citing military progress in the four-year-old war.

MoveOn is calling the move a "flip-flop" and says it goes against the views of his constituents.

As you may remember, Baird, a Democrat who has been anti-war right from the beginning went to Iraq, said the surge was working, and said that, "troops have earned more time."

For liberal groups like MoveOn, this is an unforgivable sin. You're not allowed to acknowledge the progress our troops are making, you're not allowed to root for victory, and you're absolutely not permitted to support any policies that could make it more likely that we could win the war there.

Happily, after September, I think that Baird will have a lot of company on MoveOn's hit list given the progress that we've been making in Iraq.
