Gov. Richardson (D-N.M.) to Legalize 'Medical Marijuana'

Democrat Gov. Bill Richardson (N.M.), who is running for the 2008 Democrat presidential nominiation, is expected to soon sign a bill that would legalize marijuana use for medical purposes in his state.

"So what if it's risky? It's the right thing to do," said Richardson. "What we're talking about is 160 people in deep pain. It only affects them."

This is sort of old news, but I wasn't aware of Richardson's position today. I wonder if that will be a part of the Democrats' universal healthcare program....

Richardson was a part of a liberal presidential forum on healthcare in Las Vegas over the weekend. To my knowledge he did not discuss his support for medial marijuana.
