Right Wing News Tech Issue

Written By : John Hawkins
October 9, 2012

I changed web hosting companies for Right Wing News on Sunday and since then, we’ve had a strange issue with DNS propagation. Long story short, for an unusually long time after the website was moved over, an inordinate number of people were still seeing the old version of RWN, on the old host, instead of the new version. Theoretically, it can take 24-72 hours for a website to show up in a new location once the DNS has been re-pointed, but typically it shouldn’t take nearly that long. I took a corrective step early in the AM to try to speed up the process.

The good news is that if you’re seeing this post, you’re seeing the latest version of Right Wing News. If not, then you’re probably scratching your head, wondering what’s going on and why the page isn’t being updated as per usual today. If all goes well, pretty much everyone should be moved over by noon today. Of course, you know the old saying, “We plan, God laughs.”
