MSNBC: Children Don’t “Belong to Their Parents”

It was an extraordinarily creepy moment. MSNBC host, Melissa Harris-Perry was doing a “Lean Forward” spot for the network.

In it, she complained that we “haven’t had a very collective notion that these are our children” and actually uttered the words, “We have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families and recognize that kids belong to their communities.”

In Melissa Harris-Perry’s mind, your children are the property of the state.

That echoes Benito Mussolini’s famous quotation, “All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.”

This is a creepy and fascistic notion and it’s worth noting that it was not just some off the cuff remark from Melissa Harris-Perry. It was something she obviously thought about and planned out. Worse yet, her thoroughly un-American comments were apparently so uncontroversial that MSNBC thought nothing of using them in a promo.

How did even MSNBC liberals get this far off the rails?

Of course, they’d surely argue that they have good intentions. They want the state to own your children for good reasons. They only want to help. It’s for YOUR BENEFIT.

But ultimately, the state and parents can’t take equal responsibility for raising a child. Someone has to be the final authority.

Do you think parents should decide what’s best for their children or should the state do that?

MSNBC has its opinion and it’s the same one that Mussolini had. Even well meaning liberals should be concerned by that.
