Liberals Love High Taxes but Don’t Like Paying Them

One of liberals’ more infuriating traits is that they will invariably vote to raise taxes on everyone else, yet they will go to any length to avoid paying the taxes themselves. Recent examples include a pair of high-profile progressives likely to endorse wringing every penny out of your paycheck on behalf of the State.

Al Sharpton:

The Rev. Al Sharpton, along with his nonprofit National Action Network and two for-profit firms, have $4.7 million in outstanding debt and liens, according to federal and state tax records, the New York Post reported on Sunday.

Among the debts include $806,875 that Sharpton owes the state, along with $2.6 million in federal liens against him for unpaid personal income taxes, the Post stated.

Recent filings showed the National Action Network owed $813,576 to the federal government at the end of 2012, and his company Rev-Al Communications owes $447,826 to the state…

Robert Redford:

The taxman cometh for actor Robert Redford – but the two-time Academy Award winner is fighting the nearly $1.6 million bill in court, claiming it violates his constitutional rights.

Redford was slapped with the whopping fee from the New York State Department of Taxation in May for the sale of his ownership in the Sundance Channel in 2005.

But the Utah resident is balking at the bill because the state constitution says he only has to pay income taxes on “intangible personal property” in his home state. …

Redford is worth an estimated $170 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. He owns a ranch in Utah and two more homes in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Napa Valley, California.

For many more examples, refer to the very core of tax-and-spend moonbattery, the Obama Regime itself, an infamous haven for tax cheats. Members or nominees of Obama’s inner circle who agree with Democrat donor Leona Helmsley that taxes are only for the little people include the marry-for-money zillionaire Hanoi John Kerry, Kathleen Sebelius, Timothy Geithner, Tom Daschle, Ron Kirk, and Nancy Killefer.

Tax cheat Al Franken may not be in Obama’s cabinet yet, but he is juvenile enough to belong there. Tax cheat and washed-up propagandist Keith Olbermann would make an excellent replacement for the hapless spokesliar Josh Earnest.

Meanwhile, Obama demagogues that it is “unpatriotic” for corporations to attempt to survive by escaping from the ruin liberals are making of this country in part through excessive taxation (although he helped Michigan auto parts maker Delphi to avoid taxes with this tactic during the quasi-takeover of the auto industry).

It is well known that conservatives give more to charity than liberals do. Liberals can be generous too, but usually only with other people’s money. They make up for it by acting extra righteous about the goodness of their hearts.
