Ask A Random Person: Hollywood Censorship
by Shamus Young

Many leading Hollywood players have taken bold and controversial stances against the war, and have had to deal with unpleasant public backlash as a result. Many stars, such as Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Eddie Vedder, Madonna, and Martin Sheen, have complained that this is unfair censorship.

I'd boycott the movies but there haven't been any movies worth boycotting all year.

We need to stop this oppression against the richest 1% of the world's population.

Every time I turn on the TV I see some actor complaining about losing their free speech. Someone needs to stop the censorship now!

Someone should let them know that that being censored right now would do their careers a lot of good.

I understand how important free speech is for them. They must be anxious to apologize for being wrong about every aspect of the war, and to express relief that the Iraqi people are better off.

Help! Help! I'm being repressed! Come and see the violence inherent in the system!

Here is a hint for movie stars: If you are paid millions of dollars to perform in front of an entire nation... you probably are not suffering from the scourge of censorship.

I'm glad to see that in a life and death situation like Iraq, it's still all about the Hollywood actors.
