Child Rape Case Reveals Hillary’s Lighter Side

You can’t say Hillary Clinton doesn’t have a sense of humor. For example, helping a child rapist get off with a 1-year sentence (minus time served) really tickles her funny bone:

Newly discovered audio recordings of Hillary Clinton from the early 1980s include the former first lady’s frank and detailed assessment of the most significant criminal case of her legal career: defending a man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl.

In 1975, the same year she married Bill, Hillary Clinton agreed to serve as the court-appointed attorney for Thomas Alfred Taylor, a 41-year-old accused of raping the child after luring her into a car.

The recordings, which date from 1983-1987 and have never before been reported, include Clinton’s suggestion that she knew Taylor was guilty at the time. She says she used a legal technicality to plead her client, who faced 30 years to life in prison, down to a lesser charge.

Here’s where the laughs start:

Describing the events almost a decade after they had occurred, Clinton’s struck a casual and complacent attitude toward her client and the trial for rape of a minor.

“I had him take a polygraph, which he passed — which forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs,” she added with a laugh.

Clinton can also be heard laughing at several points when discussing the crime lab’s accidental destruction of DNA evidence that tied Taylor to the crime.

Bwahaha! I bet the little girl thought she would get justice! What a knee-slapper!

For once Shrillary wasn’t behaving unethically – unless you count her violation of attorney—client privilege by disclosing the results of the polygraph.

From a legal ethics perspective, once she agreed to take the case, Clinton was required to defend her client to the fullest even if she did believe he was guilty.

Of course, she didn’t have to take the case. But someone has to defend child rapists, and it might as well be someone who can see the lighter side of their crimes. A person who didn’t have the soul of a scorpion might have a very hard time with it – especially considering the tactic Shrillary employed:

A lengthy yet largely overlooked 2008 Newsday story focused on Clinton’s legal strategy of attacking the credibility of the 12-year-old victim.

That couldn’t have been much fun for the little girl, being publicly humiliated on top of being raped. Yet this hardball tactic wasn’t even necessary. Shrillary used a technicality regarding the evidence to get the rapist off with a wrist slap.

Now for the real punch line:

Clinton and her supporters highlight her decades of advocacy on behalf of women and children…

Yet the tactics she used against the little girl who had been raped were similar to those employed to discredit women her husband had molested.

They don’t come phonier than Shrillary.
