Justina Pelletier Still Isn’t Going Home

You don’t see her so much in the news anymore. But Justina Pelletier — who was confiscated from her parents by a Massachusetts hospital, much to the detriment of her fragile health — still isn’t going home:

The teen at the center of a custody battle triggered by differing diagnoses by two Massachusetts hospitals will be transferred from the Bay State to a facility in her home state of Connecticut, according to Massachusetts officials, but her parents are not welcoming the decision.

Secretary of Health and Human Services John Polanowicz said Monday the “reunification” plan calls for 15-year-old Justina Pelletier to be transferred to a facility in Thompson, Conn., as the first step in a process that could eventually return her to the custody of her parents.

Eventually? Given how her health has deteriorated since she was effectively kidnapped by the authorities, that could mean never. Her heart condition has evidently gone untreated since she was transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital last year.

BCH believes her severe health problems are all in her head, even though Tufts Medical Center had been treating her for mitochondrial disease.

From BCH, bureauweenies threw her to the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families — and now:

Justina will be transferred to the JRI Susan Wayne Center for Excellence in Thompson — a facility her father claims specializes in HIV services and shock therapy.

Maybe they are hoping that a few jolts of electroshock will bring the heart issue to a head.

Justina originally visited BCH to consult with a gastroenterologist. Once in the hospital’s clutches, she was never returned to Tufts or her parents.

This bizarre and potentially tragic tale of petty tyranny illustrates what we have to look forward to as the power-mad federal government consolidates control over the healthcare industry through ObamaCare.
