Professor Calls for Imprisoning Global Warming Skeptics

As the global warming hoax unravels, its adherents in the ideological fever swamps of the liberal establishment become ever more eager to resort to force to impose it:

An assistant philosophy professor at Rochester Institute of Technology wants to send people who disagree with him about global warming to jail.

The professor is Lawrence Torcello. Last week, he published a 900-word-plus essay at an academic website called The Conversation.

Incarceration for running afoul of the authorities in the realm of science has a famous precedent. Galileo Galilei was imprisoned for refusing to support official dogma regarding the nature of the cosmos. But Torcello draws on a more recent example:

Throughout the piece, he refers to the bizarre political aftermath of an earthquake in L’Aquila, Italy, which saw six scientists imprisoned for six years each because they failed to “clearly communicate risks to the public” about living in an earthquake zone.

Despite the massive sums of taxpayer money used to prop up the global warming hoax by bribing the likes of Michael Mann to produce fraudulent studies, Torcello clings to the tinfoil hat notion that skepticism regarding the debunked global warming hoax is the result of a massively financed conspiracy. Consequently,

Torcello wants governments to make “the funding of climate denial” a crime.

One implication is that advertisers on websites like this one could be thrown in jail. So much for the free exchange of ideas that characterized college campuses before liberals took control of them.

As for the First Amendment,

“We must make the critical distinction between the protected voicing of one’s unpopular beliefs, and the funding of a strategically organised [sic] campaign to undermine the public’s ability to develop and voice informed opinions,” he argues.

“It is time for modern societies to interpret and update their legal systems.”

Freedom of speech is fine — but only if it doesn’t conflict with left-wing dogma.

Incidentally,

On March 13, 2014 (the day Torcello’s screed was published), the high temperature was 18 degrees Fahrenheit in Rochester, N.Y., the city for which Rochester Institute of Technology is named.

The annual cost of attending this school is $45,602. That’s pretty steep, considering that you can watch unhinged lunatics demand totalitarianism on MSNBC for the price of the cheapest cable package.

Here’s a scary thought: what if authoritarian kooks like Torcello take over the government?

Here’s a scarier thought: they already have. At this point it is only a matter of consolidating control. If environmentalists aren’t calling the shots, explain the fascistic overreach of the increasingly terrifying EPA, or the continued blockage of the Keystone XL pipeline.

Among warmists, Torcello is actually a moderate. At least he didn’t call for climate heretics to be executed.

Lawrence-Torcello
Professor Torcello would probably like to see you in a prison camp.
