With each generation, our liberal ruling class becomes less subtle about where it is coming from, morally and spiritually speaking. At the progressive establishment’s premiere indoctrination facility for elite apparatchiks, they have made it crystal clear by scheduling a satanic black mass:
Harvard and the Archdiocese of Boston are locked in a showdown over Satan as a club run by the Ivy League college’s extension school prepares to host a controversial “satanic black mass” on campus next week. …
“We see the black mass as something that is degrading to the Catholic religion,” said the Rev. Michael E. Drea, senior chaplain at the Harvard Catholic Center and pastor of St. Paul’s Parish in Harvard Square. “The black mass is a contradiction to the Catholic faith and is rooted in hatred and bigotry.”
Rev. Drea has learned to speak the lingo. Note that he doesn’t object to desecrating what Catholics hold to be the Body of Christ because it is blasphemous and obscene, but because it “is rooted in hatred and bigotry.” Worshiping Satan could be almost as bad as using the N-word.
The Archdiocese of Boston said it strongly opposes the satanic black mass — which lampoons the sacred Catholic tradition — and is calling on Harvard to “disassociate itself” from the event.
“For the good of the Catholic faithful and all people, the Church provides clear teaching concerning Satanic worship,” the archdiocese said in a statement. “This activity separates people from God and the human community, it is contrary to charity and goodness, and it places participants dangerously close to destructive works of evil.”
The same goes for abortion clinics. Good luck trying to get liberal educrats to oppose them.
Harvard isn’t backing down, with extension school spokesman Jeff Neal saying they support “the rights of students and faculty to speak and assemble freely.”
So long as they don’t say anything politically incorrect, that is.
The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club plans to host the black mass at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Queens Head Pub in Memorial Hall.
Graduate student Tim Czerwienski is on board:
“I understand it. We live in a free society.”
As Father Roger Landry observed in a letter to Harvard President Drew Faust,
To argue, as the Extension School’s Press Release did, that it’s about education or freedom of expression or assembly or religion is silly. We all know that if there were to be a seance to communicate with the soul of Adolf Hitler, Harvard would never countenance it…
We also all know that if an “independent student organization” were trying to host an event in which there would be reenacting the burning of a copy of the Koran, it likewise would never be permitted, because Harvard would never associate itself with the desecration of Islam’s sacred text or allow its name or property to be used in something that would obviously outrage the spiritual sensibilities of Muslims.
Yes, the President of Harvard is really named Faust. Per Wikipedia,
Faust is the protagonist of a classic German legend. He is a scholar who is highly successful yet dissatisfied with his life, so he makes a pact with the Devil, exchanging his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures.
In another generation, satanic mass will be weekly events on Ivy League campuses. Catholic mass will be forbidden, lest it offend Muslims or homosexuals.
