Sequestration In Context: US Borrows Cost Of Sequestration Every 28 Days

Daily reminder: they aren’t cuts. Just a slight reduction in the rate of spending increase, but, you know, if the Sequestration is allowed to proceed the animals in the national parks will turn feral and start eating tourists before joining forces and attacking cities

(Daily Caller) In an effort to put the looming automatic spending cuts into “perspective,” House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy said the sequester only cuts “less than” what the federal government borrows in “one month.”

House Republican leaders called on President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats to “lead” and propose a plan to reduce the deficit.

“The president’s only idea to solve a problem is to take more from the hardworking taxpayers. Let’s put the sequester into perspective: It is $85 billion. We have a spending problem in Washington. We borrow more than a trillion dollars a year. We roughly borrow $85 billion every 28 days,” McCarthy said on Monday at the Capitol.

“So what we are looking to do is cut less than what we borrow in one month – not what we spend, but what we borrow. This is not time for a road-show president, but this is a time to look for someone who will lead and work with us because we are willing to work with them to solve America’s problems.”

Obviously, that’s Bush’s fault. But, Obama wants to “close loopholes”. Republicans should start with those that affect Hollywood, Google, General Electric, unionized auto manufacturers, Facebook, “green energy”, Progressive Insurance, Media Matters…..shut them. See how willing Obama is to closing those loopholes.

Meanwhile, Politico wonders if Obama is telling the truth on the effects of Sequestration (that Obama proposed). The answer? Obama and company are pretty much fear mongering and exaggerating. And an interesting part not mentioned is that these “cuts” to the states would be meaningless if the economy wasn’t in shambles and the states weren’t reliant upon the extra federal (borrowed) money because their economies are in shambles.

(Politico) President Barack Obama broke Republicans once on taxes – and his risky strategy for winning the sequester fight assumes he’ll do it again.

He will divide, isolate and defeat Republicans using all the powers of his office and all his skills as a political campaigner. As Americans grow frustrated with the cuts, Republicans will reject their party’s no-tax mantra and demand that Congress end the standoff, even if it means raising some new revenue — just the way Obama is demanding.

See, here’s the problem: the POTUS, Obama, is making no attempt to actually work to solve the spending issue, he’s only trying to demonize and create conflict. And this is what he does every time. Why would anyone think the Republicans would want to work with this bully and jerk?
