Why Does Sen. Durbin Think Illegal Aliens Can Become President?

*Note- I know that John hit this yesterday, but I have a personal story with Sen. Turban to relate… Once again we see a Democrat in Congress that is completely out of touch with, or unknowledgeable about, our U.S. Constitution, the law of the land. This time it’s Senator Dick Durbin that is so contemptuous of our immigration laws, so interested to pander to illegal immigrants, that he somehow imagines that an illegal alien could become president some day.

Durbin was once again advocating for the DREAM Act, a law that would give cash, education, and freebies to the children of illegal immigrants merely because they are illegals and he and his staff had stacked the audience in his hearing with illegal immigrants.

After pandering to the illegals in the audience at the Capitol (you know, those illegals so afraid of America that they have to “hide in the shadows”), Senator Durbin started his loving tribute to those bright, shinning faces in attendance…

“When I look around this room, I see America’s future. Our doctors, our teachers, our nurses, our engineers, our scientists, our soldiers, our Congressman, our Senators and maybe our President.”

Well, isn’t that nice? Durbin sees a future for America where no one speaks English, where laws are broken by rote, and where such lawbreaking is perpetrated by people that demand freebies and automatic citizenship despite their commission of crimes.

But wait, there is that one other nugget at the end of his pandering that shows that Dick Durbin doesn’t know anything about our national law, the U.S. Constitution.

Let’s recap… “I see America’s future. Our doctors, our teachers, our nurses, our engineers, our scientists, our soldiers, our Congressman, our Senators and maybe our President.” (My bold)

Wait… “our president”?

Does this Senator not know that Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution says: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President”?

Does this “learned” member of the most deliberative body in the world not know that a foreign born person is forever excluded from becoming president?

Or is Dick Turbin so contemptuous of our Constitution that he simply doesn’t care?

We should remember that this is the same senator that called our soldiers Nazis back in 2005. Turbin Durbin compared our soldiers in Iraq to the murderers under Pol Pot, Nazis, and creators of Soviet Gulags.

I would also like to relate a personal story with this un-American, self-interested, neer do well. In 2006 my eldest son shipped off to Iraq out of Chicago with the Illinois National Guard. His unit shipped out of the General Richard Jones Illinois National Guard facility in Chicago’s near South Side, just south along the lake from downtown Chicago.

Was Senator Durbin in attendance at the ceremony as his constituents shipped off to war?

Nope.

He was just in the next county at the time at a press conference for a far more important issue. Yes, he was trying to raise awareness for the need for federal money to help eradicate the ash borer weevil bug that was attacking Illinois’ trees.

Bugs. Bugs were more important than the young men in his own district that were shipping off to war.

Well, I guess we can understand why Turbin Durbin would be more comfortable talking about bugs than in attending the going away ceremony for our soldiers. After all, those soldiers are nothing but Nazis, anyway…. Right Dickie?
