A middle school in Texas has fired a school principal who told students to speak English in class. So, in the USA you aren’t allowed to teach children the language most people in the country use and the language of which most business is transacted? Apparently not.
Hempstead Middle School in Hempstead, Texas, ousted principal Amy Lacey after she told students over the intercom that “It would be best to speak English in classrooms.”
Lacy, who has been gagged by terms of her prior administrative leave, told the Houston Chronicle that she believed she was acting in accordance with Texas state law.
The Texas Education Code states:
“English is the basic language of this state. Public schools are responsible for providing a full opportunity for all students to become competent in speaking, reading, writing, and comprehending the English language. … The mastery of basic English skills is a prerequisite for effective participation in the state’s educational program.”
Lacey contends that since standardized tests are in English, she believed her request would be helpful to Hispanic students and denies accusations that she was trying to ban Spanish.
Liberals will do anything to destroy the cohesiveness of this country.
