Democrat Congressman: FBI Can’t Show Muslim Terrorists On ‘Faces of Global Terrorism’ Ad

Inarguably, most Muslims in the United States aren’t terrorists, but just as inarguably, most terrorists are Muslims. We’re getting to the point where we’re being asked to ignore the latter fact because we don’t want to offend any law abiding Muslims.

Global Terrorism

While we certainly shouldn’t want to unnecessarily offend anyone, there are people who are dead now because of this kind of political correctness. With both the Fort Hood Shooting and the Boston Bombing, our intelligence agencies knew the people involved were potentially dangerous and had ties to terrorists. They did nothing about it. Now, we’re getting to the point where the FBI can’t even look for terrorists without offending people because most terrorists are Muslims?

Always-unfiltered Rep. Jim McDermott penned a letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller Wednesday claiming a Joint Terrorism Task Force ‘Faces of Global Terrorism’ ad is racist.

McDermott, a Democrat from Washington state, voiced his “deep concern” about the ad, which shows mug shots of international terrorists, and asked the FBI chief to “reconsider publicizing” it.

According to McDermott, the “ad featuring sixteen photos of wanted terrorists is not only offensive to Muslims and ethnic minorities, but it encourages racial and religious profiling.”

McDermott continued, “Representing terrorists, however, from only one ethnic or religious group, promotes stereotypes and ignores other forms of extremism. The FBI’s ‘Most Wanted Terrorists List‘ includes individuals of other races and associated with other religions and causes, but their faces are missing from this campaign.”

McDermott’s point is that two of the people on the FBI’s thirty-two person ‘Most Wanted Terrorists List’ do not have connections to Islam.

McDermott concluded that the “bus ad will likely only serve to exacerbate the disturbing trend of hate crimes against Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Muslim-Americans.”

Even if the FBI were to put the two non-Muslims on the list, it wouldn’t change the fact that the overwhelming majority of the people on the list are and will continue to be Muslims. Maybe instead of worrying about whether the FBI’s ad has too many Muslims on it, the congressman should ask himself WHY so many Muslims are on that list and what can be done about that.
