Bill Clinton’s Hypocrisy On Rick Perry And Israel

According to Bill Clinton, Rick Perry and the GOP are just too doggone pro-Israel.

Perry spoke to a group of pro-Israel activists earlier this week in New York City and sharply criticized President Barack Obama for being too close with Palestinian leaders.

“It is time to change our policy of appeasement toward the Palestinians to strengthen our ties to the nation of Israel, and in the process establish a robust American position in the Middle East characterized by a new firmness and a new resolve,” Perry said.

“As a Christian, I have a clear directive to support Israel, so from my perspective it’s pretty easy,” he added when asked about how his religion played into his views.

…”Rick Perry – that’s my culture, you know? I’m from next door,” the Arkansas native said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “There’s an enormous reservoir of support for Israel in the Christian evangelical community, and a lot of them believe – as some of the more militant subgroups do – that God meant for all Judea and Samaria [the West Bank] to be in the hands of Israel. … I’m sure there are hundreds of thousands of people that have never missed church on Sunday in Texas who believe it.”

…Clinton also said Republicans in Congress were also overly sympathetic toward Israel. “They’re more militant than the Israelis are, than a lot of them,” said Clinton.

Is it true that the GOP is more pro-Israel than the Democrats — and you know we mean it because Jews vote 2-to-1 for the Democrats. They’re the ones who have to pretend to be pro-Israel for politics sake. Speaking of which, it’s extremely ironic that Bill Clinton is accusing Republicans of being “militant” about Israel.

After all, this is the same man who said the following about Israel back in 2002,

‘If Iraq came across the Jordan River … I would grab a rifle and get in the trench and fight and die.’

Yet, Republicans are the “militants?” Well, yes, in liberal eyes, because they understand something a lot of other Americans don’t: Liberals habitually lie about a lot of issues where they’re out of step with the public. So, when they talk about supporting Israel, believing marriage is between one man and one woman, say nice things about Christianity, talk about how much they appreciate the troops, etc., etc., etc. — that’s all for politics sake. Nobody who knows anything about politics believes that Bill Clinton meant it when he said he “would grab a rifle and get in the trench and fight and die” — but when Rick Perry says, “As a Christian, I have a clear directive to support Israel, so from my perspective it’s pretty easy,” he’s serious.

PS: Jews are God’s chosen people and so as Christians, we do have a certain duty to look out for them and the state of Israel. That doesn’t mean Israel should get a free pass or they should get whatever they want from us, but it does mean that as long as they treat America as a friend and an ally, we should do the same to the extent that they merit it.
