Blame America?...Godd@mn Right...!
Written By : John Hawkins

There is nothing that frosts a liberal more than questioning his patriotism or accusing him of "unamerican." However, whenever you see someone verbally attacking America in general or patriotic people in particular, it's almost a given that they'll be left-wingers and that they'll be backed up by other lefties. While the majority of Democrats and liberals are just as patriotic as anyone, there is a significant, vocal, unpatriotic, anti-American part of the Democratic base. These aren't fringe loonies either -- they're an accepted part of the Democratic "mainstream." If you want to know the type of people I'm talking about, look at some of the following quotes from a thread at the Democratic Underground called, "Blame America?...Godd@mn Right...!". While not everybody in the thread agreed, as you'll see, there are plenty of Democrats out there who hate their own country and aren't shy about letting people know. Don't believe me? Well after you read the latest anti-American episode of ACPOTI (anyone can post on the internet), you'll know better...

Mopaul: i am here to rub salt in the eyes of republican conservatives and i blame america for its own current woes. i know they hate to hear a liberal socialist blame america for everything bad, but thats what i am now doing, blaming arrogant, materialistic america. we deserve to be attacked by terrorists, because we are, have been, and always will be, the number one terrorists of the world.

...i blame america, the dark aspects and the evil components of america, not its good people. its power mad monarchs and despots and pampered politicians, they take the blame for the world's hatreds against us. its not our people so much that 'they' hate, but our imperialism, materialism, narcissism, arrogance, our self important superiority complex.

...we deserved to be attacked. and we will be attacked again. and until we stop murdering people and oppressing people and enslaving people all around the world, we will always have enemies.

so don't tell me not to blame america @ss holes. if i get drunk and drive into another car, i blame myself, not the bartender or liquor distributor. put the blame where it belongs."

Monkeegirl: take a few political geography classes and get over your misguided belief that america is a land of the free and the home of the brave...Germany here I come...the land that learned the hard way. Excuse me if you do not see that we are on a one way road to disaster and the world is turning against us.,..I wonder how long we will be appeased? America the Democracy of Hypocrisy

Sweetheart: Rock on mopaul. 100% agree. It might not be a vote winner as a public policy, but it is the root of power to take responsibility for the truth. The rude presumption that "they hate us" for a bogus reason is indeed odd. An honest person might first wonder if they had a real reason.

I remember reading a copy of the soviet union constitution back in 1980 and thinking how draconian the single party state was, and how it must be hell with all propaganda... and now america is exactly like that with the democratic sheep hearding in behind the repuke scum to deny any responsibility, rather to wage more mass murder and war....

Vmounts: No its sh*tty regardless of country...still doesn;t give the U.S. a right to ignore the harmful effects of extreme nationalism and self-centered world view.

Considering the utter failure of the Afghan war to catch any terrorists I don't see how you dispute his statement. All we did was bomb a poor, already war-torn nation. We accomplished little to nothing... just a random act of violence as reaction to our pain. Rather childish but I suppose that does after all reflect most people like yourself who are half the population here.

WillBowden: We have met the enemy. He is us.

Nlighten1: Mo Paul for President! nt

ElsewheresDaughter: I can't leave ....to scary....I wouldn't want to be a VICTIM of our own foriegn policies!

Juajen: I am a main stream democrat and I agree with almost everything mopol said. The problem is that the facts he used to base his opinions on, in my view, have been hidden from most Americans and the world by our corporate leaders, military leaders and politicians, both pugs and dems, constantly....

thermodynamic: Sorry but I agree with MoPaul... True, nobody deserves to die despite America's unique brand of crime-committing. (Death by proxy?) But how else are some going to react, especially with the arroganr the US carries so visibly?

I have also considered the possibility that these terrorists are nothing more than religious fanatics.

I think the truth is a combo of both points. Hatred of the US's hypocrisy and arrogance (we do support what they would consider as evil nor can I blame them) and religious fanatacism. Christian fanatics are bad enough, but on the other hand the Islam fundamentalists believe in their religion so much that they'll die for it. That makes the Christian lot that much more cowardly. But I digress, all such forms of violent behavior should be punished with severely and we also need to change our own behaviors which in turn will prevent such barbarism from happening again.

absynthe: What's the line from "Unforgiven" "We all got it comin, kid."? The WTC full of innocent people? In a way, and the cleaning crew and such really got a raw deal, but you are talking about a building that employed vast numbers of people employed to make sure that patented drugs didn't go anywhere without the proper price paid for some nebulous "intellectual property" which is apparently more important than human life. Made the calls to set up the goon squads to kill labor organizers around the world to keep the world safe for cheap coca-cola bottlers. In general engaged in thuggery around the planet, to make sure the profit margins on international trade worked in the multinational's interests, human life, local economy, or any other human consideration be damned.

If you believe predatory capitalism is the natural order, and the strong take the weak, I can't understand this sudden pacifism and fainting away for the 9/11 victims. It's the price of doing business, and international terrorists are just playing at the same game.

jaysunb: I must agree w/ MoPaul.

...Any reasonable read of American history will show a very young country that has been responsible for the deaths and destruction of millions upon millions of human beings, and a very large responsibility for the impending death of the planet itself....

RichM: ...I can't resist singling out your most ridiculous & brainwashed assertion: "because of our influence there is probably more Democracy in the world than ever before." Such utter baloney! The US doesn't even believe in real democracy IN THE US, let along other countries. The US has never undertaken a single foreign intervention to "enhance democracy." It only uses pretty phrases like this, as a cover for installing brutal right-wing dictatorships, to make the plundering & greedy exploitation of the given country easier. I guess that's news to you -- because they don't usually tell you about it on the 5 o'clock news.

Terwilliger: The US has been Rome for more than a hundred years. We are systematically screwing everyone in the world without as much as a by-your-leave....

Is it OK to call these Democrats unpatriotic now or will their fellow Democrats complain about even that?
