Sure, this may sound insane even for California, but there’s a good reason to support it.
Legislation introduced Tuesday would give about 400,000 undocumented immigrants in California the same rights as citizens to unemployment benefits and various other government services.
Very expensive unemployment benefits for non-Americans who are illegally in a state that’s headed towards bankruptcy? Why in the world would any conservative support that?
I’ll tell you why: Because California is DOOMED. It is impossible to know exactly when the Soviet style economy that has been implemented in that state will finally put California so far in the red that it goes bankrupt, but it’s as inevitable as death and taxes at this point.
With that in mind, the sooner California hits the wall, the better. Let the pensions go bust, let its checks bounce, let businesses flee the state, let its economy crash like a bucket of cement dropped out of a helicopter.
That certainly wouldn’t be a good thing for the people of California or for the country, but it’s a matter of time at this point. Since that’s the case, the sooner the better. If California is incapable of providing a positive example, then it does have some use as a negative example. Here’s a state with magnificent cities — Hollywood, Silicon Valley, wonderful weather — and liberalism is destroying it.
We may not be able to keep liberals from destroying the state, but we can at least refuse to bail them out so they suffer the consequences of their folly. Then maybe, just MAYBE, it might rip the blinders off the rest of the country’s eyes and make them realize that when you spend money like there’s no tomorrow, tomorrow does eventually come and it brings hell to pay with it.
