Jay Sekulow & BBC Watch Call On BBC to Stop Bias against Israel

One of America’s leading Christian advocates is condemning the British Broadcasting Company (BBC), the largest broadcast organization in the world for refusing to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.: : The actions of: Jay Sekulow: of the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) are timely, given the recent launch ofa new site,: www.bbcwatch.org: which will monitor BBC coverage of Israel and the Middle East.

According to BBC Watch:

  • The BBC demonstrates a disproportionate focus on Israel in relation to other countries in the Middle East — a trend which continued even through the ‘Arab Spring’.
  • The BBC’s Middle East editor frequently displays an egregious lack of objectivity, portraying Israel in an overwhelmingly negative light and the Palestinians in a positive light.
  • The BBC is self-regulating, and has been less than transparent and open to change in response to substantive criticism.

The BBC has weekly audiences of some: 225 million: abroad and: 97% of the population: of the United Kingdom.: The BCC intentionally refuses to list Jerusalem as the capital of Israel —despite a direct appeal from the Prime Minister of the State of Israel.

“The BBC refuses to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital — and Jerusalem is Israel’s capital whether the BBC likes it or not. The BBC has discriminated against Israel for many years, and it’s simply unacceptable,” said: Jay Sekulow.
