If The System Is Rigged In America…

If liberals had the capacity for shame, the Left would have pushed as hard to get Elizabeth Warren to drop out as conservatives did with Todd Akin. In fact, Todd Akin made one boneheaded remark while Elizabeth Warren lied about being an Indian for over a decade to collect diversity perks in the world of academia. So, she was a terrible person to stick in the after 10 slot on Tuesday, but the cupboard was awfully bare at this convention and I guess, beggars can’t be choosers.

In any case, Warren’s speech was largely forgettable, but there was one: passage: that stuck out like a sore thumb.

I’m here tonight to talk about hard-working people. People who get up early, stay up late, cook dinner and help out with homework. People who can be counted on to help their kids, their parents, their neighbors, and the lady down the street whose car broke down. People who work their hearts out but are up against a hard truth: the game is rigged against them.

…People feel like the system is rigged against them.

And here’s the painful part: They’re right. The system is rigged.

Setting aside the fact that she’s talking about the Land of Opportunity like it’s Cuba, where the game is rigged against everyone who doesn’t kiss Castro’s behind, there’s a very basic question that needs to be asked. It’s one that came up again and again and again as Democrats spoke last night.

Barack Obama has been President for almost four years. Democrats have controlled the Senate that entire time. For two years of Obama’s presidency, he had such overwhelming margins in the House and Senate that he could pass almost anything he wanted.

So, if the system is “rigged,” why hasn’t he fixed it? If he thinks we need more money for roads and bridges, why hasn’t he spent it? If he thinks you should be able to abort your kid right up until his sixth birthday, why hasn’t he pushed that through? Oh, Republicans won’t let Obama do what he wants – except for TWO WHOLE YEARS, Republicans couldn’t do ANYTHING to stop Barack Obama. That’s how Obama passed abominations like the Stimulus Bill, Obamacare, and Cash-for-Clunkers. This isn’t 2008. Barack Obama isn’t the challenger, running on what he’s going to do one day. It’s 2012 and he has to actually run on what he’s done since he’s been elected. If his argument is that he holds the most powerful position on planet earth, but he’s still powerless to accomplish anything, then maybe he’s just not the right man for the job.
