Israel is in a tough neighborhood – thankfully many work tirelessly to ensure the country remains safe. A few years ago, The Moskowitz Prize for Zionism was established by Dr. Irving Moskowitz and Cherna Moskowitz as an expression of support for people who put Zionism into action in today’s Israeli society.
Winners this year included Tzvika Slonim, founder of the Ariel University Center, Yitzchak Glick of the Emergency Medical Center in Efrat and Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, Director of the Israel Law Center.
“The prize was established in recognition of the people who put Zionism into action inIsrael today– at times risking their own personal security, placing the collective before personal needs and doing what it takes to ensure a strong, secure Jewish homeland,” said Cherna Moskowitz.
Darshan Leitner was named by Israel’s leading business newspaper as one of the Jewish state’s 50 Most Influential Women.
Ze’ev Jabotinsky, the Zionist prophet said many years ago: “To me “Jew” represents an honorable title, not an accident of birth.” Clearly these folks represent the best amongst a special people.
