Is A Mini Ice Age Coming? Plus, Who’s A Climate Scientist?

Frozen food for thought: The mini ice age starts here

The bitter winter afflicting much of the Northern Hemisphere is only the start of a global trend towards cooler weather that is likely to last for 20 or 30 years, say some of the world’s most eminent climate scientists.

Their predictions — based on an analysis of natural cycles in water temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans — challenge some of the global warming orthodoxy’s most deeply cherished beliefs, such as the claim that the North Pole will be free of ice in summer by 2013.

According to the US National Snow and Ice Data Centre in Colorado, Arctic summer sea ice has increased by 409,000 square miles, or 26 per cent, since 2007 — and even the most committed global warming activists do not dispute this.

The scientists’ predictions also undermine the standard climate computer models, which assert that the warming of the Earth since 1900 has been driven solely by man-made greenhouse gas emissions and will continue as long as carbon dioxide levels rise.

They say that their research shows that much of the warming was caused by oceanic cycles when they were in a ‘warm mode’ as opposed to the present ‘cold mode’.

Of course, the Chicken Little Alarmists are still beating the drum that AGW is real, and we need to Do Something, usually involving lots of taxes and restrictions on freedom, which will lower the temperature of the Earth by .02 degrees F. Interestingly, Mother Nature has achieved way more than that herself without restrictive legislation since Al Gore’s hysterical rant was released in theaters.

For myself, I’ll wait for a longer term trend to show before I fully believe, but, as I have said before, the natural world does what the natural world wants to, regardless of whether Al Gore lives a massive carbon footprint lifestyle. Definitely read the whole article, too long to excerpt fully for flavor.

Meanwhile, one of the rarest of all frosty phenomenon, snow rolls, is being found in that frozen paradise of ….. Britain. With picture goodness.

Also, Excitable Chucky is pushing a new video (don’t worry, psycho boy doesn’t actually get the link, Basil’s Blog does, though, Chucky will probably have a red flag come up on his computer watch program)

Environmentalist Peter Sinclair’s new video is about the “Oregon Petition,” an effort to show that scientific consensus does not exist on global warming by compiling a list of “skeptical scientists” packed with frauds and hoax names, but very few actual climate scientists.

Say, can anyone tell me if Al Gore, Barack Obama, Henry Waxman, and all the other politicians, teachers, and other climate alarmists are climate scientists? Oh, and Robert Gibbs, who stutters his way through blaming the current cold weather on global warming. The double standard, like with Harry Reid and his racist comment about Obama, is breathtaking.
