Seldom do I give serious credence to the tabloids, but the National Enquirer’s coverage of the John Edwards story has to be considered an exception. When I saw this cover on the Globe, you just know I had to grab it:

This is an intriguing choice for the Globe because you may be able to hide a temper tantrum or an “enemies list” from the public, but you can’t really hide lung cancer for that long. The National Examiner is the Ford Pinto of gossip rags. It doesn’t have the credibility (ha ha) of the National Enquirer and it’s not quite as flaky as the Globe.
