John McCain, Obama Ally
22 May 2013
1:16 pm
Dave Blount
Over his career, John McCain has often given conservatives cause to wonder whose side he is on. There is no need to wonder any longer:
President Barack Obama has an important new ally as emboldened Republicans work to derail his agenda: John McCain. …
[T]he two are working together on issues ranging from immigration to the deficit.
Anyone remember when Lettuce claimed he had learned his lesson after his last attempt to ram through amnesty? As his membership in the Gang of Eight Quislings confirms, he was lying. But that’s only the beginning …

Virginia Lieutenant Governor Nominee: Black Americans Should Give Up Their “Slavish Devotion” To The Democrat Party
21 May 2013
6:29 am
John Hawkins
There’s nothing a liberal hates more than a black man who stands up and tells the world that minorities don’t need the Democrat Party to succeed. That’s why Pastor E.W. Jackson, who was chosen as the GOP’s Lieutenant Governor Nominee, better get ready for a tsunami of hatred. When a black man tells the truth about the Democrats, they feel compelled to try to destroy him before he sets a good example.
An outspoken and provocative conservative who emerged from Saturday’s Republican Party of Virginia Convention as the party’s nominee for …

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Calls on Eric Holder To Resign Over AP Phone Records
15 May 2013
4:31 am
John Hawkins
The Republican National Convention isn’t pulling any punches on the Associated Press scandal. The RNC Chairman, Reince Priebus, is calling on Eric Holder to resign.
Today, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus called on U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to resign after the revelation that he allowed the Justice Department to monitor Associated Press reporters’ phone conversations in a direct violation of the First Amendment:
“Freedom of the press is an essential right in a free society. The First Amendment doesn’t request the federal government to respect it; it demands it. Attorney General …

Gang Of 8 Throws GOP A Bone On NewShamnesty
10 May 2013
7:34 am
William Teach
This begs the question: if Conservatives have to be thrown a bone to attempt to get their support for the immigration reform bill, wouldn’t that mean that the bill is extremely Democrat friendly? This is starting to look more and more like Obamacare: have a couple of popular provisions, such as a 13 year waiting period, requirement to learn English, border control, no government services, but have the ugly details buried in the bill which will cause massive problems later
(Politico) The Senate Gang of Eight made a series of overt …

Why I Was Rooting For Mark Sanford To Lose Yesterday

Voting for Mark Sanford would be the Republican equivalent of voting for Marion Barry, Barney Frank or Jesse Jackson Jr. #Weshouldbebetter
— John Hawkins (@johnhawkinsrwn) March 25, 2013
For whatever it’s worth, key GOP movers & shakers in Mark Sanford’s district are telling me they’re confident he’s going to win.
— John Hawkins (@johnhawkinsrwn) May 3, 2013
I am rooting for Colbert Busch to beat Mark Sanford in #SC1. She couldn’t win that seat again, but we could be stuck w/ him for a long time

Gun Grabbers Attempt Emotional Assault Against Senator Ayotte
1 May 2013
8:50 am
William Teach
The “pro-gun control” folks, meaning anti-2nd Amendment/pro-gun grabber/people control crowd, aren’t able to win the argument using facts, figures, and adult discourse, so they’ve resorted to what they do best: emotional pleas, and they’ve decided to target Senator Kelly Ayotte, which, to use liberal terminology, rather misogynistic
(Politico) Sen. Kelly Ayotte voted against a bill to expand background checks for purchasers of firearms, and Erica Lafferty, the daughter of the slain principal from Sandy Hook Elementary School, wanted to know why.
Lafferty got her chance at a town hall meeting Tuesday.
“You had …

Ted Cruz: GOP Senators Privately Yelled at Me at the “Top of Their Lungs” Because I Fought Gun Control
29 Apr 2013
9:48 am
John Hawkins
When Jim DeMint was in the Senate, conservatives would be publicly singing his praises while privately, his staff would tell me that Republicans in leadership were chewing him out behind closed doors for taking a principled stand that embarrassed them.
Now, Ted Cruz is apparently catching the same kind of flack for fighting against gun control. Here’s what he had to say about it.
I don’t know that there is an issue that has generated more heat internally in the Republican conference. We’ve had probably 5 or 6 lunches with a bunch …

Congressional Republicans Challenge DHS: Why Are You Buying 1000 Rounds More Per Person Than The Army?
26 Apr 2013
10:09 am
John Hawkins
Many Americans have been concerned about the sheer amount of ammunition that the Department of Homeland Security has been buying. The incredible volume begs a simple question:What exactly is the DHS preparing for that will take that much ammo?
Now, Republicans in Congress seem to be asking the same question.
Republican Jason Chaffetz said in a hearing that, “It is entirely … inexplicable why the Department of Homeland Security needs so much ammunition.” Chaffetz also noted that the army uses about 350 rounds per person while the DHS is using 1300 …

NJ Gov. Christie Announces Lots Of Gun Control
20 Apr 2013
6:44 am
William Teach
Hey, remember when some Conservatives were really hot to trot with Chris Christie, and really wanted him to run for President, or at least be on the ticket as VP? And some said “hey, um, he may have some good qualities for Conservatives, but, really, he’s about as squishy a Republican as it gets?” Yeah, um.
(NJ 101.5) Gov. Chris Christie unveiled gun control and violence prevention measures that are as comprehensive as they are ambitious.
Christie acknowledges there is no way to prevent all violence in our society, but he says …

A fractured party is a losing party
19 Apr 2013
12:49 pm
Josh Bernstein
Why is it that when Democrats govern like Socialist dictators they win, but when Republicans govern like Democrats they lose? The sad part is that both parties govern in such a similar capacity that it is hard to tell them apart these days. Both parties have an insatiable appetite for spending; and fiscal discipline in Washington is as rare as a snowstorm in Phoenix.
Neither party has shown the ability to govern the American people the way our Constitution originally intended. One could argue that we technically have not had a …

Marco Rubio Steps Up As Squishy Republican Spokesperson For Shamnesty
19 Apr 2013
8:00 am
William Teach
The more we learn about the Gang Of 8 immigration bill, the more we find out just how flawed it is. Liberals seem to love it, which should be the first clue that when all is said and done, it will simply be an amnesty bill. Shame. They could have done something that made sense, that truly put teeth in securing the southern border, holding those who come legally first and then overstay their visas accountable, and finding ways to do what we can to make sure that people do …

Celebrating Margaret Thatcher Upon Her Passing
8 Apr 2013
2:37 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Margaret Thatcher, known as the Iron Lady–and for a reason–has passed away. Thatcher was one of the trinity of world leaders that changed the world in the 1970s and 80s.
She, along with U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II, brought conservative principles into world renown and rescued her nation from the hell of a socialist downward trend.
Sadly, both her country and ours have slid right back into the anti-modern, anti-liberty socialism Thatcher and Reagan laid low thanks to idiots like UK PM Tony Blair and our own …

Video: Phyllis Schlafly On the GOP Establishment, Karl Rove, Mitt Romney and Other ‘Losers’
28 Mar 2013
12:45 am
Warner Todd Huston
This year at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), I was fortunate enough to get some time to interview one of the most redoubtable conservative activists in the nation, Phyllis Schlafly. In this eighteen minute video you will encounter a woman that is extremely vital and at 89-years-of-age still sharp as a tack.
As is her wont, Schlafly eschewed kid gloves with her frank discussion of the GOP establishment and how those effete, east coast, country clubbers are at war with the conservative, Midwestern grassroots.
Take Schlafly’s description of “the establishment,” for …

According To The Republican Elite, The GOP Needs To…

….give up on being pro-life to appeal to single women.
….support amnesty for illegal aliens to appeal to Hispanics.
….stop trying to cut spending to appeal to the middle class.
….register guns to appease the gun control fanatics.
….legalize marijuana and support gay marriage to appeal to younger voters.
….give up on having a strong defense to appeal to Libertarians.
If we did all of that, essentially the GOP would be a center-left party up against a far left wing Democratic Party, fighting to determine how far to the Left the country goes.
Besides, selling …

The GOP Needs To Man Up
19 Mar 2013

Robert Cleveland
The Republican Party just released what is supposed to be their big comeback strategy: The Growth & Opportunity Project. This is the vision for the Republican Party – after getting spanked in November’s presidential election by an unpopular, divisive partisan hack who faced some huge setbacks right before the election, you would think that the GOP has some major retooling to do.
GOP Chairman Reince Priebus has referred to the Growth & Opportunity Project as “an autopsy,” and I for one think Priebus is right on in his description. The report …

GOP Growth And Opportunity Plan Looks To Be Mostly Squishy
18 Mar 2013

William Teach
Perhaps there will be more in it once it is released than media outlets are reporting, but, probably not. The entrenched GOP leadership doesn’t seem to have a clue
(Daily Caller) Why did Republicans fail to stop Barack Obama from winning another four years in the White House and what can they do to get back on the path to victory?
Those are the topics tackled inside the 100-page report being released by the Republican National Committee’s Growth and Opportunity Project on Monday.
“The GOP today is a tale of two parties,” the …

Republicans clueless about minorities
17 Mar 2013

Rachel Alexander
Republicans are losing elections in part because they are losing key demographic groups. Some of those groups, like Hispanics, are growing, making them impossible to ignore. 37 percent of the country is nonwhite. Hispanics comprise 16 percent of the population, accounting for half the population growth within the past decade. 51 percent of children born in California are Hispanic, and 46 percent of the population in New Mexico is Hispanic.
Republicans have had difficulty making inroads with Hispanics due to their position on illegal immigration. The left and its other half, the liberal …

Democrats Mostly Against Any Obama Grand Bargain

Unless it includes lots of tax increases and sharing the wealth policies (though none of them have been willing to send a check to the IRS themselves)
(Politico) President Barack Obama may be thinking about a “grand bargain” to address spending and the federal deficit, but there’s a key constituency he has to persuade to come along.
Democrats.
The talk of any deal with congressional Republicans — and for now, it’s just that: talk — has liberals worried the White House will give in to changes to safety net programs including Medicare, Medicaid …

Time for Old Soldier McCain to Fade Away

Senator John McCain (R, AZ) continues his criticism of fellow Republicans for filibustering confirmation of CIA Director John O. Brennan over the White House’s drone policy.
While interviewing with the Huffington Post, McCain used the term “wackos” to describe Senator Rand Paul (R, KY), Senator Ted Cruz (R, TX) and Representative Justin Amash (R, MI).
“They were elected, nobody believes that there was a corrupt election, anything else…But I also think that when, you know, it’s always the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone,” said McCain.

Rand Paul, RINOs, and the Fork in the Road for the GOP

You know the heroic stand Rand Paul took against tyranny with his historic filibuster was a success not only because Eric Holder reversed course and renounced the use of drones to kill Americans on American soil without due process, but by the reaction of the dinosaurs dominating the Republican establishment. Snipes John McCain:
“If Mr. Paul wants to be taken seriously he needs to do more than pull political stunts that fire up impressionable libertarian kids in their college dorms.”
Anyone who supports Tea Party values against brutish Big Government can take …
