Talking Paul Ryan And Small Government On The Very First Live Panel On HuffPoLive
13 Aug 2012
8:45 pm
John Hawkins
The Huffington Post debuted HuffPo Live today at 10 AM. It’s an online, streaming web TV news product that’s going to feature 12 hours of live programming per day. They’re putting a lot of money and resources into this project and supposedly, they have a 100 staffers working on it. I’ve done a couple of recorded segments with them during the lead-in to today’s grand opening, but today, took the cake.
The network opened with Arianna Huffington talking it up and then, they had the very first live panel, which consisted …

An Interview With, Well, Me…..John Hawkins, in Case You Didn’t Know Who “Me” Was Referring to in This Post by Me
13 Jun 2012
12:03 pm
John Hawkins
Eric Morris over at Misfit Politics has done a short interview with me. Here’s an excerpt.
4) The economy and spending are the biggest issues our nation currently face. However, what issue is personally most important to you and why?
Spending is the most important issue to me personally because at the moment, the country is on track to default and it’s possible I won’t be rich by the time it happens. That’s a big deal because I don’t think there’s going to be a big demand for bloggers in the …

Last Night, I Became The First Ever “King Con” On Current TV
16 Mar 2012
5:19 am
John Hawkins
I don’t get Current TV, but apparently Cenk Uygur is now on there and he chose me as the first ever “King Con” award for my Five Things Children Know That Liberals Have Forgotten column at Townhall.
After hearing Cenk was on Current TV, my first thought that was that they’re becoming the B team for MSNBC. That’s good news for Chris Matthews because if he ever loses those pictures of his having sex with a network VP’s wife and they finally fire him for his awful ratings, he’ll have a …

I’m Going To Be Current TV’s “King Con” Tonight. Is That Good?
15 Mar 2012

Tonight at 7/6c, we crown @JohnHawkinsRWN “King Con” for his @townhallcom column on “5 Things Children Know That Liberals Have Forgotten.”
— TYT on Current TV (@TYTonCurrent) March 15, 2012
I’m guessing they didn’t like my Five Things Children Know That Liberals Have Forgotten column and are going to rip on it, but who knows? Maybe they thought it was genius and it totally converted them to conservatism. It’s Current TV, so it’s like speculating about what goes on in Atlantis. People have heard of it, but no one knows how to …

Truth in Advertising
10 Jan 2012

Michael Fell
Have you seen this TV commercial advertising an electric car? It starts by showing virtually every appliance, utility and tool used by average, everyday people being powered by an internal combustion engine that’s pumping massive amounts of black smoke into the atmosphere. Impressive efforts are made to tie all visual references to the petroleum industry, including showing an office water cooler that looks remarkably like the gas pump found at your local filling station.
Never mind that the EPA’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy rules, aka the CAFE standards, have largely made …

Making It In The Political Blogosphere: The World’s Top Political Bloggers Share The Secrets To Success
5 Dec 2011
8:42 am
John Hawkins
A while back, I was interviewed for a book called Making it in the Political Blogosphere.
The book was just released last month and it features interviews with “twenty of the world’s top political bloggers” including Jim Hoft, Arianna Huffington, Lew Rockwell, Matthew Yglesias, Nick Gillespie, and Kevin Drum.
It’s an excellent book for anyone who wants to blog because not only do you get advice from people who’ve already had some success, you’re getting it from all across the ideological spectrum. Since we’re talking about how to get a blog …

The Hollywood Left: America’s Shame

The Occupy movement continues to stumble across the country, prompting MTV reality show buzz and, according to high-ranking NYC police officials, a 154% increase in city-wide shootings thanks to the protest’s draw on law enforcement resources.
It has also attracted various celebrity visitors and endorsements, from the dubious: Roseanne Barr – to the obvious: Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon – to the uber-famous: Kanye West, Radiohead.
A particularly fawning AP piece about the radical folk singer Pete Seeger and his grandson, who visited the Wall St. protest Friday night, is an instructive example …

Welcome To The Right Wing News Reboot
4 Oct 2011
5:00 am
John Hawkins
RWN has been around since 2001 and the page has had a lot of different design and staff changes over the years, but the general style really hasn’t changed all that much. The page, like most blogs, has always straddled that line between news and opinion. The style is as old as the blogosphere: You find a story, you excerpt it, and you add some commentary. That style works, which is why it has been around for so long and will continue to be around at RWN.
However, as I noted …

Four Questions For Valley Girl, Uh I Mean Pundit, Meghan McCain About Michele Bachmann’s Speech
29 Jan 2011
8:42 pm
Susannah Fleetwood
Tuesday night, President Obama gave his State of the Union Address. Then afterward, Republican Congressman Paul Ryan gave the official GOP response to the president’s SOTU address, and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann gave the unofficial Tea Party response. Most in the political world expected fireworks from Ms. Bachmann’s response, but, in the end, her speech proved to be highly unprovocative. In fact, many Republican pundits, like Redstate’s Erick Erickson, wrote that they were pleasantly surprised at how well Congresswoman Bachmann came across. As Da Tech Guy pointed …

Pushing Conservatives: The Guy In The Basement…. JoeDanMedia

The Shunned Pundit
His unique and powerful music videos have been featured on Breitbart TV, Michelle Malkin, The Tammy Bruce Show and countless others, but… who is this conservative caped crusader?
In the summer of 2009, after nearly 20 years away from music altogether, and after dusting himself off from a series of personal tragedies, a ‘small town guy’ returned to the studio and created ‘for personal use’—a YouTube account called JoeDanMedia. And a year and a half later, a case is being quietly, but strongly made that Joe Dan Gorman is among …
