“Are you upset little friend? Have you been lying awake worrying? Well, don’t worry…I’m here. The flood waters will recede, the famine will end, the sun will shine tomorrow, and I will always be here to take care of you.” – Charlie Brown to Snoopy, Peanuts
Patton is gone.
I wasn’t sure whether to write about that sad fact or not.
On the one hand, I’m not one of those people who puts dogs on the same level as human beings. But, I thought of Patton almost like a little brother …
Prepped For Hurricane Irene
26 Aug 2011 3:54 am John Hawkins
One of the downsides of living near the beach is that every so often, you get a little “weather.” At the moment, the “weather” in question is Hurricane Irene, which is bearing down on us as I speak.
On the upside, it looks like Irene is going to come in to our East, so it SHOULD miss us. According to the MSNBC storm tracker, there’s only a 30% chance of +58MPH winds and a 5% chance of +74MPH winds.
My personal policy is to hang in there unless a category three …

Patton Gets A Toy (5 Pics)
23 Jun 2011 7:01 am John Hawkins
Remember how excited you used to get about getting a gift at Christmas when you were a little kid? Well, one of the things I admire about my dog Patton (and, yes, there’s more than one) is his enthusiasm. Leaping for the toy
Please, please, please, please, gimmie the toy!

5 Things I Admire About My Dog
2 Mar 2011 4:35 am John Hawkins
You’d be surprised at how much there is to admire about a dog. Just to name a few things….
1) My dog is brave. Seriously. Just yesterday, we walked past 3 deer, all of which were at least quadruple his size. So what did he do? HE CHARGED. Then, after they ran, he left his calling card, if you know what I mean…just so that if they came back, they would know exactly who scared them off.
2) He’s excited about EVERYTHING. The dog loves to get up in the morning. He …
Virginia Military Institute Celebrates Muslim Victory Over the West
8 Feb 2011 1:17 pm Dave Blount
The Virginia Military Institute has been home to Stonewall Jackson and George Patton. Now it produces politically correct celebrations of Muslim victories over Western Civilization.
Next month [Jackson's] beloved Virginia Military Institute will be convening a celebration commemorating the 1300th anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Spain under the Muslim warlord Tariq ibn Ziyad in 711 A.D. The March 23-25 celebration entitled “711-2011: East Meets West” and organized by VMI’s Center for Leadership and Ethics, is scheduled to feature standard Muslim apologists Reza Aslan and Akbar Ahmed. VMI Superintendent Gen. …
