Wash. Post Plays Hate-The-Rich-Republicans With Graphic Chart
30 Dec 2011     4:02 pm      Warner Todd Huston

-By Warner Todd Huston
On Wednesday morning the Washington Post’s Aaron Blake posted an infographic that was a perfect example of how one can use a graphic chart to influence the public in subtle ways, ways that we of the center right better start employing in our own efforts if we want to win over the public.
Blake’s post, “Why People Hate Congress,” fits in well with President Obama’s class warfare rhetoric as employed in his campaign to set different economic classes against each other in a desperate and cynically populist …

Senator Dick Durbin: Pants on Fire
23 Dec 2011     3:03 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Illinois Senior Senator, Democrat Dickie Durbin wants you to know that the fact that the Democrats have not passed a full, working budget in over 900 days is all because of those wascally Republicans.

Never mind that the Democrats have had the majority for over three years in the Senate, never mind that before the 2010 midterm elections they had 100% control of both Congress and the White House… it’s all them gosh darn Republican’s fault.
Never mind that they passed the boondoggle healthcare bill that will cause the U.S. to go …

CAIR Insists That Candidates Answer 11 Questions on Muslim Interests
21 Dec 2011     1:05 pm      Warner Todd Huston

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has issued it’s new candidate questionnaire for the 2012 election season. CAIR is insisting that candidates answer to them before getting that jihadi stamp of approval, apparently.
CAIR has devised 11 questions for the candidates so that they can “empower American Muslims by increasing their political capacity and presence.” Because, you know, it is working so well for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, after all.
Not surprisingly, the very first question is a misconstruction of the truth. Question one states (my bold):

A number of law enforcement …

Ron Paul: Conspiracy Nut, Anti-Semite
19 Dec 2011     1:58 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Last year Ron Paul said that the CIA perpetrated a coup over the United States. “There’s been a coup, have you heard? It’s the CIA coup. They’re in businesses, in drug businesses.” That fits in as just another part of the wacky world of Ron Paul that has spanned decades of denigrating blacks, assigning all sorts of crazy conspiracies to the US government, and above all hatred for Israel. It is a disgusting sin that this man is a political candidate for anything much less for the GOP nomination for …

Democrats Trick Americans With Payroll Tax Cut Extension Ruse
  16 Dec 2011     1:56 pm      Rachel Alexander

The Democrats are accusing Republicans in Congress of opposing the extension of payroll tax cuts. On the face of it, something seems wrong. Republicans are usually in favor of tax cuts and Democrats generally oppose them, except when there is a Democratic special interest involved like environmental causes. Democrats using the payroll tax cut extension negotiations to portray themselves to the American people as the party that cares about leaving more in hardworking Americans’ pockets. White House press secretary Jay Carney recently declared at a press conference, “What happened to …

My Video At Heart of Controversy in Florida House Race
12 Dec 2011     12:41 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Apparently, a video I made in Denver is at the heart of a controversy in a race for the House of Representatives in Florida.
While at Blogcon 2011 I had the opportunity to interview Karen Harrington, a Republican candidate for the 20th District House seat now held by Debbie Wasserman Schultz — who is also the Chairman of the Democrat National Committee. I made a video of that short interview as I have so many other candidates.
In our interview Harrington, recently endorsed by GOP Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, went through some …

‘Historian’ Gets Mouthy At Congressional Hearing
4 Dec 2011     3:26 pm      Warner Todd Huston

I meant to get to this last week, but “historian” Douglas Brinkley is so forgettable as a writer that it all slipped my mind. But, it’s a slow news day, so let’s take a look at the temper tantrum this hack threw when he visited the House Natural Resources Committee on Nov. 22, shall we?
Brinkley was there to provide his, uh, “insight” into the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, testimony that Alaska Rep. Don Young called “an exercise in futility” because the hearing wasn’t going to be changing anyone’s mind about …

Looks Like Obama Lost These Boobs as Fans, Anyway
2 Dec 2011     12:47 pm      Warner Todd Huston

The Barbi Twins are no longer big fans of the Obammessiah. They think he’s turned his back on the horses. No, not the ones at the race track — well, maybe after they retire from the track they’ll fit in this story. No the Barbi twins think Obama has abandoned the horses that had until now been protected by a federal ban from being sent to U.S.-based horse slaughter houses.
Now, I did not choose to write about this story because it features two “hot” blondes with big boobs — though …

With the Economy Down, Obama Looks to Help Big Labor Make it Worse
30 Nov 2011     1:02 pm      Warner Todd Huston

With this week’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of American Airlines, we again see the results of unions having a hand in destroying American businesses. We also saw GM laid low by union demands costing Americans billions in bailouts. But despite these lessons of the recalcitrance of Big Labor forcing even worse calamities on our jobs climate in this dismal economy, Obama is about to make matters worse by using his powers to regulate to further harm both our business sector and our economy.
Obama likes to stand before the American …

Did Ezra Klein Prove that Journalism Just Another Arm of the Democrat Party?
25 Nov 2011     12:13 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Fishbowl DC has a startling report that seriously brings into doubt the independence and veracity of the journalistic arts. It seems that the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein appeared as a speaker at a closed door session of a gathering of Senate Democrat Chiefs of Staff last week, a move that, as Betsy Rothstein correctly notes, “blurs the lines between being a journalist and trying to sway politics.”
No one knows what Klein briefed the Democrat staffers about, but the whole episode raises eyebrows. How is it that a purported journalist is …

There Isn’t More Political ‘Polarization,’ There’s More Government
23 Nov 2011     1:52 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Ron Fournier of the National Journal has committed the same mistake in political analysis that far too many others on both sides of the aisle make. He thinks, like many do, that there is somehow more “polarization” in Washington today than ever. Like all the others, he’s wrong. There isn’t any more than there’s ever been.
He then leaps to the claim that the political system is “broken.” It really isn’t.
Fournier goes on to make an even more egregious mistake assuming that this “polarization” will cause the rise of a third …

Hypocrisy: Left Wants SCOTUS Justice Thomas Recusal, Ignores Kagan’s Clear Conflicts
22 Nov 2011     12:59 pm      Warner Todd Huston

This past weekend the Washington Post published a hit piece on the grand opening of a museum in Georgia dedicated to the birthplace of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The paper was desperate to make some grand conspiracy, some lawbreaking evil from the project. But whatever is going on with the museum, this story was just one more shot orchestrated by the left aimed at forcing Justice Thomas to recuse himself from the upcoming hearings on whether or not Obamacare is Constitutional. Of course, this is all a smoke …

Democrats, Sen. Schumer Shut Down Citizen’s Forum
22 Nov 2011     12:57 pm      Warner Todd Huston

You know, it is unfortunate that the Democrat Party’s name has the word “democracy” as it root because the modern Democrat Party is 100% opposed to both democracy and our system of government. Senator Chuck “Hitman” Schumer just proved this to be true once again.
Last week Senator Mike Lee (R, Utah) had reserved a room in the Senate and invited a retinue of Tea Party representatives and the folks of Freedom Works to discuss the Tea Party Budget proposal drawn up by Freedom Works.

Everything was duly arranged and the participants …

Dear American, Obama Says You Owe $160,545 of the Federal Debt
19 Nov 2011     2:20 pm      Warner Todd Huston

With the U.S. debt now officially over $15 trillion, to pay it off each working American would now owe more to the federal debt than they make in a year according to a new report by the U.S. Treasury Department.
The debt has now reached $15,033,607,255,920.32 and Terence Jeffery did a few calculations to see what that would mean.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that there were 93,641,000 full-time private sector workers in the United States in 2010 (and 18,073,000 full-time workers in federal, state and local government). That means the …

GM Bailout: Bait And Switch And Drive That Lemon Away
18 Nov 2011     1:59 pm      Warner Todd Huston

General Motors was too big to fail. This is why President Obama had to ride in on his white steed with billions of taxpayers dollars in hand to bailout GM rechristening it Government Motors. Besides, we were told it would be a great deal, a money maker, right? Well, not so much. The Administration has reported a dramatic increase in the money We The People have lost on the GM bailout.
This week the Treasury Dept. has announced that the estimates of our loss has gone from $14.33 billion tax dollars …

VIDEO: Harrington Looking to Topple Debbie Wasserman Schultz
15 Nov 2011     11:54 am      Warner Todd Huston

I was able to take a few minutes to interview Karen Harrington, a candidate for a Florida House seat. Oh, she’s not running for just any House seat. She’s running to topple the odious Debbie Wasserman-Schultz — mouth of the Democrat National Committee.

Harrington ran against Wasserman Schultz in the 20th District in 2010 and lost pretty handily. But her 40 percent vote total was one of the strongest showings of a Republican in a long time in that heavily Democrat leaning district. According to her polling she is doing even …

Video: Walsh Gets a Bit Testy With Constituent
10 Nov 2011     8:00 am      Warner Todd Huston

The Internet tubuals have been heating up with a video showing 8th District Republican Congressman Joe Walsh getting — shall we say — a bit testy with a constituent at a recent townhall.

The townhall was held in North Suburban Gurnee at Uno Bar and Grill and Walsh was being grilled about a lack of banking regulations by at least one voter.
Walsh was having none of it, as you saw. He’s exactly right about his point, too. It was Congress that was the problem, not any lack of banking regulations. I …

An Open Letter To “progressive” Politicians
  9 Nov 2011     5:00 pm      Michael Fell

Families in America must live within their means, and it’s time for the United States federal government to do the same. Don’t tell me it can’t be done. Since I lost my last full time job back in 2008, I’ve been able to make ends meet with less than half my previous income while simultaneously reducing my personal debt.
As one of your constituents, I’m calling on you to advocate for spending cuts, not tax hikes, to balance the federal budget. Since 2009, federal spending has increased from 20% to 25% …

Help Stop The High Cost of Federal Regulations
3 Nov 2011     1:18 pm      Warner Todd Huston

One of the reasons that our economic recovery has been so slow is that the Obama administration has opened a continuous avalanche of regulations affecting jobs, hampering businesses, and costing all of us billions in lost revenue, taxation, and waste. But there is a bill in the House called the REINS Act that could help tamp down this avalanche, save us all money, help bring back the creation of jobs that aren’t being created now.

The full name of the act is the Regulations from the Executive in Need of …
