This morning I got up bright and early, jumped into the car and took a drive up into Wisconsin to witness the Racine Tea Party rally in support of Wisc. Governor Scott Walker. Speakers included the lovely Rebecca Kleefisch (Wis. Lt. Gov.), Rep. Paul Ryan, State Senator Van Wanggaard, Talk Show Host Tony Katz, Breitbart Editor Dana Loesch and more.
Racine Tea Party Main Stage
It was a beautifully sunny day, perfect temperature, a nice breeze swept over those 3,000 or more gathered, and, in fact, you couldn’t ask for a better …

Choose Your Stimulus

The Spanish Economic Ministry denied there’s been a surge in withdrawals from the nation’s banks, while Spain’s Prime Minister warned that borrowing costs could reach “astronomical” proportions over fears about the weakness of Spain’s financial institutions.
Greeks have been taking their savings out of banks, with nearly a third taken out during this year’s first quarter. Since May 7th, at least 700m euros have been withdrawn from Greek banks. Uncertainty over Greece’s exit from the eurozone is stirring global fears about Europe’s monetary future.
France’s new socialist government will not ratify the …

Obama Lies About Ohio Bridge Repairs For a Second Time
4 May 2012

Warner Todd Huston
Apparently Obama and his administration operate under that old, underhanded adage that if you tell a lie long enough and loud enough it becomes “truth” because Obama has done it again by lying about how his jobs bill was to have been instrumental in the repairs of bridges that span the Ohio River.
Back in September President Obama had another one of his campaign rallies disguised as a press conference in downtown Cincinnati in front of the Brent Spence Bridge, a span that connects Ohio and Kentucky. At that time he …

EPA ‘Crucifixion’ Video Pulled From Youtube, The Liberal Cockroach Behind the Move
28 Apr 2012

Warner Todd Huston
Earlier in the week a video surfaced on Youtube of Al Armendariz, head of the EPA office in Dallas, saying that he and his agency planned to “crucify” any business that crosses them. The video caused a lot of consternation on Capitol Hill as well as recriminations for the EPA. But by Friday the video had been pulled by Youtube because of complaints from the man that originally made the video. Turns out he’s an extreme environut connected with the gay community.
To quickly recap the video, Armendariz noted that his …

Will Media Apologize for Airing Anti-Apple Computer Activist’s False Claims?
22 Mar 2012
12:00 pm
Warner Todd Huston
When it broke, the Old Media was all over Mike Daisey’s story of the horrid working conditions at Apple Computer’s foreign manufacturing plants. The story had oppressed workers, pathos, and best of all, eeevil corporate greed. Daisey was well on the road to making Apple the liberal’s newest bete noire and was being hailed as the next Upton Sinclair. Until, that is, it became clear that he made it all up.
One of the first major media outlets to push Daisey’s anti-Apple claims was the program This American Life aired on …

American Cancer Society Attacks Me by Name Over California Tax Grab?
19 Mar 2012

Warner Todd Huston
Oddly enough, a coalition of big tax hikers in California, including the American Cancer Society, has attacked me by name for daring to write about Proposition 29, a California ballot measure that will appear on this year’s ballot. Prop 29 will force Californians to foot the costs of nearly a billion dollars in new and unnecessary spending on the airy claim that the funding will somehow cure cancer and stop kids from smoking. Sounds a bit like Obama’s claims that his election would lower sea levels, stop global warming, make …

ABC News That’s Not So New

One of the breaking headline news stories online from ABC News just today, Tuesday, March 6, 2012 reads: Green Firms Get Fed Cash, Give Exec Bonuses, Fail.
http://news.yahoo.com/green-firms-fed-cash-execs-bonuses-fail-200314806–abc-news.html
Ronnie Greene and Matthew Mosk, for ABC News, aggressively reporting news with an edge, convey how companies like Solyndra, Ener1and Beacon Power took money from the Department of Energy, paid bonuses to executives, then proceeded to file for bankruptcy. How unfortunate for Greene, Mosk and ABC News, that that edge of theirs is so desperately in need of major sharpening. Conservative journalists have been …

How effective were Obama’s green jobs initiatives?
14 Feb 2012
12:00 am
Wintery Knight
From the LA Examiner.
Excerpt:
U.S. House of Representatives investigations have revealed the failed green jobs initiative in President Obama’s ambitious environmental agenda. With an initial government cost of one-half billion dollars, evidence proves that only about 10% of sponsored trainees were placed in green jobs.
As part of the Obama green energy program, the goal was to train 124,893 people, and place 79,854 (64%) in new green jobs. After 17 months, the results of the green jobs program indicate that only 52,762 were trained, and only 8,035 got green jobs – each …

State of the Union or Wishful Thinking?
25 Jan 2012
5:46 pm
Michael Fell
The 2012 State of the Union address has come and gone with little change in the White House’s view of the world. This is unfortunate. America needs viable solutions, not more wishful thinking.
Most disturbing is the continued, steadfast insistence that doubling America’s corporate tax rate will somehow create middle class jobs. After repeated failures by the current Administration to productively invest taxpayer’s money in green energy companies like Solyndra, what track record exists to support the assumption that government can invest the people’s money more wisely than those who earned …

How Barack Obama used taxpayer dollars to outsource green energy jobs

Excerpt:
Despite all the talk of green jobs, the overwhelming majority of stimulus money spent on wind power has gone to foreign companies, according to a new report by the Investigative Reporting Workshop at the American University’s School of Communication in Washington, D.C.
Nearly $2 billion in money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has been spent on wind power, funding the creation of enough new wind farms to power 2.4 million homes over the past year. But the study found that …

An Open Letter to the Occupiers from Generation X
20 Jan 2012

Rachel Alexander
To the Occupy movement:
I know some of you mean well. I even share some of your concerns. The dismal economy has made it difficult to find a good job with benefits. Meanwhile, the government is bailing out the wealthy banks and mortgage lenders that helped precipitate this depressed economy.
I hear your frustrations about student loan debt. Generation X has a lot of student loan debt too, with little relief available. The older generations have indebted our generations for years down the road, and with the rising costs of school tuition, …

Democrats Trick Americans With Payroll Tax Cut Extension Ruse
16 Dec 2011
1:56 pm
Rachel Alexander
The Democrats are accusing Republicans in Congress of opposing the extension of payroll tax cuts. On the face of it, something seems wrong. Republicans are usually in favor of tax cuts and Democrats generally oppose them, except when there is a Democratic special interest involved like environmental causes. Democrats using the payroll tax cut extension negotiations to portray themselves to the American people as the party that cares about leaving more in hardworking Americans’ pockets. White House press secretary Jay Carney recently declared at a press conference, “What happened to …

Video: Obama: Capitalism and Liberty Don’t Work
8 Dec 2011
12:00 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Barack Obama, President of the United Deniers of America, is slamming the country again. This time he ways that capitalism, liberty, and American principles have never worked.
Speaking in Osawatomie, Kansas, where in 1910 an off-the-rails Teddy Roosevelt laid out a new socialist-inspired dream for America he entitled the “New Nationalism,” Obama had a few choice words for our American principles.
In his speech, Obama went for the gusto in class warfare rhetoric characterizing anyone that makes a few dollars as the eeevil rich that refuse to be “fair” to the poor. …

Greedy Union to Destroy Black Restaurant Owner’s Business

Warner Todd Huston
An actress, model, and African American business entrepreneur credited with reviving a once-blighted neighborhood and bringing back theater goers to the New York Theater District is about to lose her business to a greedy union that wants to hike the rent for her famous restaurant 350 percent.
Back in 1986, Barbara Smith, sometimes called “the black Martha Stewart,” opened a restaurant in the Theater District called B. Smith’s. Her eatery soon became the toast of theater goers and stars alike. It also became a favorite in the African American community.
B. Smith’s …

The Chevy Volt: Detroit’s Hottest Car (Cuz They Catch on Fire and Stuff)
29 Nov 2011

Warner Todd Huston
Government Motors has finally found its hottest car and the Chevy Volt is it. Unfortunately for Chevy, it isn’t because it is popular. It’s because the car seems to catch on fire a lot. Industry watchers are preparing for the Volt to undergo a recall to fix whatever problem the car’s lithium-ion battery pack has that seems to be causing the vehicles to spontaneously burst into flames.
Of course, this little catching on fire problem seems emblematic with everything about Government Motors. After President Barack “Lee IaJokka” Obama pumped $53 billion …

California Ballot Boondoggle Sends Tax Dollars Out of State
20 Nov 2011

Warner Todd Huston
Despite all the talk of fixing it, California’s budget is still a mess. One of those “fixes” was implemented last summer when the state Legislature increased revenue projections by $4 billion to avoid balancing the budget. Of course, the problem with using such “phantom money” is that it often has a habit of disappearing when you need it most. And it has disappeared just when money for schools is needed. Now deep cuts are on the table. The people lose again.
Naturally the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office recently reported …

Per The Hill online: Friday, November 18, 2011
“In a closed-door briefing Tuesday, Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), the Republican co-chairman of the panel, said divisions among Democrats are standing in the way of an agreement. He told his colleagues the GOP had put multiple offers on the table that Democrats had yet to accept.
Boehner told reporters that the GOP offer was ‘fair,’ referring to a $1.2 trillion proposal by supercommittee member Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) that included $300 billion in new tax revenue.”

Illinois CAT Dealer: Illinois’ Worst Business Climate Getting Worse
17 Nov 2011

Warner Todd Huston
On Wednesday I attended a “government day” event at Patten Industries, a 78-year-old Illinois Caterpillar dealer situated in Elmhurst, a northwest suburb of Chicago. The event, led by current General Manager Garrett Patten, featured a discussion on the severely unfavorable business climate in Illinois and why the state is lagging so horribly behind the leading economic indicators of every surrounding state.
Patten Industries has been guided by four generations of Pattens, the company having been founded by B. C. Patten, Sr. in 1933. But Illinois has not been good to the …
