Judge Overrules Sebelius Death Sentence For 10 Year Girl
  6 Jun 2013     8:23 am      John Hawkins

Some people want to give Kathleen Sebelius a break for refusing to waive a bureaucratic rule that insured 10 year old Sarah Murnaghan couldn’t get the lung transplant she needed to live. In effect, by refusing to waive the rule, Sebelius was dooming a 10 year old girl to death even though her doctors thought she had a decent shot to survive the transplant.

First of all, not only is that wrong, it’s one of the big problems with Obamacare. Politicians in D.C. shouldn’t have the authority to make life …

Cancer Clinics Are Already Turning Away Thousands of Medicare Patients. For Shame!
  5 Apr 2013     6:12 am      John Hawkins

Back in my teaching days, many years ago, one of the things I liked to ask the class to consider was this: Imagine a government agency with only two tasks: (1) building statues of Benedict Arnold and (2) providing life-saving medications to children. If this agency’s budget were cut, what would it do?
The answer, of course, is that it would cut back on the medications for children. Why? Because that would be what was most likely to get the budget cuts restored. If they cut back on building statues of …

Healthy Housing Is a Human Right
  11 Feb 2013     2:09 pm      Dave Blount

“Housing Is a Human Right” is a favorite cry of communists who believe that everyone should be forced to finance everyone else’s needs. Under Hopey Change, this slogan has been upgraded to “Healthy Housing Is a Human Right.” The Regime has announced a new initiative entitled Advancing Healthy Housing, promising to protect us from “moderate to severe physical housing problems, including dilapidated structure; roofing problems; heating, plumbing, and electrical deficiencies; water leaks and intrusion; pests; damaged paint;” et cetera; ad nauseam.
According to the Obama administration, the health and economic burdens …

Obama Operatives Training Media How to Sell Obamacare
3 Feb 2013     12:59 am      Warner Todd Huston

The Old Media is getting a little help from team Obama on how to report about Obamacare the “correct” way. To achieve that goal, Obama operatives are setting up propaganda symposiums for journalists and giving large cash donations to journalism associations to help spread Obama’s word.
This Obamacare propaganda campaign seriously blurs the line between government and “journalism” and seems to be a blatant attempt by team Obama to write the media’s Obamacare stories for them.
Rusty Weiss recently discussed a series of large donations made to the Society of American Business …

College Professors Lose Hours Because of Obamacare
27 Nov 2012     3:01 pm      Warner Todd Huston

One of my favorite stories this week is the college professors at Pennsylvania’s Community College of Allegheny who’ve had their hours cut because of the costly requirements of Obamacare.
One of Obamacare’s changes to general business practices is to make people who work 30 hours or more a “full time worker.” For generations that magic number was 40 hours a week. But now that Obamacare is forcing this change to what is considered a full-timer, businesses across the country are forced to change policies and cut the hours of employees to …

Red Lobster, Olive Garden Testing Program Where Even Fewer Workers Are Full Time Due To ObamaCare
  10 Oct 2012     8:31 am      William Teach

Who would have seen this coming? Legislation has consequences out in the Real World
(Washington Times) The owner of Olive Garden and Red Lobster restaurants is putting more workers on part-time status in a test aimed at limiting costs from President Obama’s health care law.
Darden Restaurants Inc. declined to give details but said the test is in just four markets across the country. The move entails boosting the number of workers on part-time status, meaning they will work fewer than 30 hours a week.
Under the new health care law, companies with …

After Slamming Palin, NY Times Excited for Up Coming Obama Death Panels
5 Oct 2012     6:09 pm      Warner Todd Huston

For The New York Times, Steven Ratner had to admit last month that he was pretty darned excited for those Obamacare death panels to get started. “WE need death panels,” he said on September 16. This from the same paper that in 2009 attacked Gov. Sarah Palin for her rhetoric and an Old Media establishment that gave Palin a “lie of the year” award for her claim that Obamacare death panels were coming.
The Times sudden appreciation of death panels isn’t the only bit of hypocrisy revealed in Ratner’s article. His …

Doctors are sick of Obamacare
  3 Oct 2012     4:38 pm      Matt Vespa

Well, Obama can surely not count on doctors to back him in his re-election bid. Huffington Post’s Harry Bradford posted on October 2 that:
More than half of physicians say they’ll vote for Mitt Romney come November 6th compared to just 36 percent for Obama, according to a recent survey by medical staffing firm Jackson and Cokey. In fact, 15 percent of survey respondents said they’ll be switching to the Republican camp this election, with most citing the Affordable Care Act as the reason.
The majority of the 3,660 doctors polled in the survey said they also …

Media Blasts Ryan, Acts as if AARP is Non-Partisan
25 Sep 2012     9:37 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Last week the media was all over Paul Ryan’s visit to an event with the American Association for Retired People gleefully reporting that he was booed. The media treated the whole affair as if the AARP was some non-partisan organization. But, the truth is, the AARP is no more non-partisan than any organization carrying water for the Obama administration.
Take The Hill, for instance. In its report the inside Washington newser noted that the boos Ryan received was “a clear sign of just how big a challenge Medicare poses to the …

Good News: Wind Turbines Supposedly Making People Sick
  9 Sep 2012     8:17 am      William Teach

Proponents of wind turbines say that this is all incidental and coincidental. Enough so that there is actually a medical condition name for it
(UK Daily Mail) It was Uplawmoor’s tranquility and wild beauty that drew civil servant Aileen Jackson to settle there 28 years ago.
She’d had enough of life in the big city. Now she wanted somewhere quiet and rural to start a family, keep her horses, and enjoy the magnificent views down the valley and out to sea to the western Scottish isles of Arran and Ailsa Craig.
Then, two …

WHAT! Andrea Saul Uses Romneycare To Slam Obama ‘Cancer’ Ad???
  9 Aug 2012     1:39 am      Matt Vespa

RedState’s Erick Erickson tweeted this could be the moment when Mitt Romney lost the election.

In an interview of Fox News, Romney Press Secretary Andrea Saul decided to invoke Romneycare as a counterpoint to the despicable narrative being pushed by Priorities USA.  I’m sure you’ve seen the infamous ‘cancer ad.’  Business Insider reported on August 8th that:
…In defending Romney, she [Saul] veered way off message, explaining that if the steelworker, Joe Soptic, had lived in Massachusetts, he and his wife would have been able to get health insurance under Romney’s health-care …

Obamacare Costs $1.9 Trillion AND Still Leaves 30 Million Uninsured
  31 Jul 2012     1:51 pm      Matt Vespa

Since the 5-4 decision to uphold Obamacare as constitutional through the taxing authority of Congress, the CBO gave their final grade. .  But it’s not biggie.  This entire overhaul is “deficit neutral” and will save money in the long run.  That’s what the Left try to sell us.  Even Joe Six Pack knows that something can’t be deficit neutral when you spend over a $1 trillion dollars on a new entitlement program.  As Jeffrey Anderson of The Weekly Standard wrote on July 27:
So, what — besides less liberty — would …

Surprise! UNC Student Health Insurance Doubles In Two Years
  18 Jul 2012     7:39 am      William Teach

Can anyone guess why?
(WRAL) The University of North Carolina system requires all students to have health insurance coverage, but the cost of a plan the system offers has more than doubled in two years.
The insurance requirement started in 2010, and about one-third of students on the system’s 16 university campuses buy their policy through UNC’s provider, New York-based insurer Chartis. The rest of the students have other coverage, usually through their parents.
The average cost of the Chartis policy started at $695 a year, …

Politico Offers 5 Ways To Kill Obamacare Without Repeal
  8 Jul 2012     8:00 am      William Teach

Romney has said that “What the Court did not do on its last day in session, I will do on my first day if elected President of the United States. And that is I will act to repeal Obamacare.” Obviously, that doesn’t mean he will abolish it by executive order, as many liberals, including the article over at the Politico, thinks. What that means is that he wants the Republican Congress, provided the GOP takeover the Senate and hold the House, to pass legislation to repeal this horrific …

NHS horror story: neglected patient calls police for water, dies of thirst
  3 Jul 2012     4:00 pm      Wintery Knight

I spotted this UK Daily Mail story on my FB feed from bioethicist Wesley J. Smith.
Excerpt:
A young patient who died of dehydration at a leading teaching hospital phoned police from his bed because he was so thirsty, an inquest heard yesterday.
Officers arrived at Kane Gorny’s bedside, but were told by nurses that he was in a confused state and were sent away.
The keen footballer and runner, 22, died of dehydration a few hours later.
A coroner had such grave concerns about the case that she referred it to police.
Yesterday an inquest was told how …

VIDEO: Democrats Next to Move to Unionize Obamacare Doctors
29 Jun 2012     2:36 pm      Warner Todd Huston

In another sign that our healthcare industry is soon to be just another arm of the Democrat Party, Chicago are Democrat Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky thinks it’s a great idea if doctors unionize.

This will completely end any chance that doctors will care about patients. They will instead become just another uncaring, slipshod union hack that won’t much care about the excellence of his work because he’s protected by union rules. Patients will no longer matter.
Doctors will be just like officious DMV employees. Just like lazy Streets and Sans guys. Like all …

CNN Mistakenly Reported Roberts Overturned Obamacare
29 Jun 2012     2:35 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Seven minutes of “f**king humiliation” is how one CNN staffer described the morning faux pas the “most trusted name in news” made when it reported that Chief Justice John Roberts overturned Obamacare’s mandate this morning.
As the Supreme Court of the United States was delivering its long awaited decision on Obamacare, CNN’s on-air news reader, 29-year-old Kate Bolduan, breathlessly said that the healthcare mandate was struck down. And I do mean breathlessly…

Kate Bolduan: We’re still going through the reading of the opinion, but I want to bring you the breaking news …
