What Say You To Remotely Having Your AC And Fridge Shut Down During Peak Time Energy?
  30 Apr 2013     8:47 am      William Teach

This is the logical extension of “smart grid” policies.

(UK Daily Mail) Fridges and freezers in millions of British homes will automatically be switched off without the owner’s consent under a ‘Big Brother’ regime to reduce the strain on power stations.
The National Grid is demanding that all new appliances be fitted with sensors that could shut them down when the UK’s generators struggle to meet demand for electricity.
Electric ovens, air-conditioning units and washing machines will also be affected by the proposals, which are already backed by one of the European Union’s …

Celebrating Margaret Thatcher Upon Her Passing
8 Apr 2013     2:37 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Margaret Thatcher, known as the Iron Lady–and for a reason–has passed away. Thatcher was one of the trinity of world leaders that changed the world in the 1970s and 80s.
She, along with U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II, brought conservative principles into world renown and rescued her nation from the hell of a socialist downward trend.
Sadly, both her country and ours have slid right back into the anti-modern, anti-liberty socialism Thatcher and Reagan laid low thanks to idiots like UK PM Tony Blair and our own …

Making Britain Feel Safe From Crime
  5 Mar 2013     1:49 pm      Dave Blount

Having allowed their moonbat rulers to disarm them, Britons cannot employ firearms to defend themselves against an ongoing epidemic of lawlessness. No matter; they have a much nicer means to fight crime:
Hundreds of pom-poms and knitted items have been strung from trees and lampposts to help reduce the fear of crime in an area of Leicester.
Leicestershire Police hope the “guerilla knitting” or “yarn bombing” will encourage more people to use Bede Park and Great Central Way.
Deep-thinking academic Charlotte Bilby explains the strategy:
Ms Bilby, a senior lecturer in criminology at Northumbria …

Koch Industries Responds to ‘Misleading’ UK Articles
9 Feb 2013     6:20 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Koch Industries recently published a response to the work of UK Independent journalist Steve Connor whose work, Koch says, “misled readers.” The two articles accused Koch Industries of secretly funding attacks on climate change.
The articles written by Connor “got many facts about Koch wrong,” according to the open letter published on the company’s website.
Koch was also unhappy that the British newspaper edited down its letter to the paper without their knowledge “censoring key information and important context.”
The accusatory pieces were titled “Exclusive: Billionaires secretly fund attacks on climate science” and …

Green Movement Founder Opposes Wind Turbines in His Backyard
7 Feb 2013     10:40 pm      Warner Todd Huston

One of the world’s premiere environmentalists, credited as a founder of the green movement, is fighting plans to erect wind turbines in his own village.
Professor James Lovelock, 93, is renowned for having created the “Gaia Theory” and becoming one of the World’s earliest and most active modern environmentalists. He is also known for predicting global warming and saying that by the year 2100 warming would kill off four fifths of the world’s population.
Lovelock has, however, has lately come at odds to the movement he helped foster angering the environmental movement …

Anarcho-Tyranny in the UK
  23 Jan 2013     1:05 pm      Dave Blount

After the law-abiding public has been disarmed, criminals can loot houses pretty much at will, not even having to wait until they are unoccupied. But there is still a small chance that they could be apprehended by police and subjected to the indignity and inconvenience of prison. No worries, moonbats; Britain is again guiding the way toward our bleeding heart dystopian future:
A burglar has escaped with a caution despite admitting 113 offences.
Jason Dernbach, 24, was given the soft punishment after confessing to a three-year crime spree.
At the time he was …

Banning Handguns Produced More Gun Crime in Britain
  17 Dec 2012     2:20 pm      Dave Blount

Following the horrific massacre in Newtown, all liberals can agree that we need still more stringent gun control — something along the lines of what they have in hyper-statist Britain. Let’s see what effect once great Britain’s draconian authoritarianism has had. Here’s a report from 2009:
The latest Government figures show that the total number of firearm offences in England and Wales has increased from 5,209 in 1998/99 to 9,865 last year — a rise of 89 per cent.
In some parts of the country, the number of offences has increased …

Leanna Broderick: The Face of Britain’s Decline
  11 Dec 2012     2:07 pm      Dave Blount

Even as once great Britain’s eyes go dim, life is still good for the freeloaders who are bleeding it to death:
While many families are worrying about how to afford Christmas this year, one jobless single mother has revealed she receives so much in benefits she has £2,000 to spend on designer gifts, clothes and partying.
Mother-of-two Leanna Broderick plans to buy 20 presents for each of her children, including Burberry and Ralph Lauren outfits, iPads and gold jewellery.
The 20-year-old, who has never worked, claims nearly £15,500 a year in state handouts.
Why …

France, Spain Back Plan To Create “Palestinian” State, Germany Says No
  28 Nov 2012     9:20 am      William Teach

Well, we already know that Spain and France are willing to surrender to terrorists and hardcore Islamists, so, we should not be surprised in the least
(The Blaze) Spain’s foreign minister says Spain will vote in favor of recognition of a Palestinian state at the U.N. General Assembly this week.
Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo told parliament Wednesday that Spain would support the Palestinian bid at the U.N., because it feels it is the best way to advance toward peace.
As TheBlaze reported on Tuesday, France became the first major European country to come …

U.S. Senate, Obama State Dept. Backing Wrong Horse in Ukraine
19 Oct 2012     10:00 am      Warner Todd Huston

In September, the U.S. Senate adopted a resolution threatening sanctions against Ukraine for the conviction and imprisonment of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, a leader of Ukraine’s opposition party. Secretary Hillary Clinton and the U.S. Department of State backed the U.S. Senate, calling for Tymoshenko’s immediate release. But just this month, even the jailed PM’s closest ally, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko, has thrown her under the bus quicker than Obama threw Clinton under the bus over Benghazi. Secretary Clinton is making a major mistake trying to exert pressure on …

Richard Branson: US War on Drugs is ‘Racist’
6 Oct 2012     9:21 pm      Warner Todd Huston

On Wednesday, while reacting to the death of an American border agent, Sir Richard Branson told Reuters that the American War on Drugs is not only a failure, it is also “racist.”
Speaking at the offices of the Metro Newspaper in New York where he was acting as a “global guest editor,” Branson said that he was part of a commission that spent two years looking at the war on drugs and they came to the conclusion that it is “patently obvious it’s failed.”
Branson noted that other nations, like Portugal, have …

Brit Columnist: We Hated Bush But Obama’s Just as Bad
28 Aug 2012     3:17 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Left-wing, British columnist Owen Jones was not a fan of George W. Bush, it seems. While this is no surprise for as screaming a left-winger as Jones, what is a surprise is that he has decided that President Obama is no real improvement over the “repulsive” Bush.
In a recent column in The Independent, Jones went on a monotonous rant of name-calling against Bush — the same sort of nonsense with which we are all woefully familiar. All his name calling there is easily forgettable, naturally, but when he finally got …

Olympic Invasion
  26 Jul 2012     8:11 pm      Michael Fell

Yahoo, that staunch defender of all things “progressive”, jumped on the media bandwagon in gushing over Malaysia’s Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi making the trip to London to compete in the Olympics.  They fawned all over the feel good story about how just one month before she is due to give birth to a baby she is scheduled to compete in the 10m rifle event.  The 29-year-old is not the first pregnant Olympian, but is believed to be the farthest along in history.

The Age Old Power Struggle: Chapter 2012
  24 Jun 2012     9:09 pm      Michael Fell

A Muslim cleric introduced Egypt’s new President, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsi by saying: Our Capital ‘shall be Jerusalem, Allah willing’.  For his part, Morsi pronounced: Abroad women are ‘free,’ but not here.
These types of proclamations do not bode well for Egyptian minorities, which includes members of the Coptic Church community, who make up about 10 per cent of Egypt’s population. Despite Morsi campaign spokesman Gehad el-Haddad’s assurances that Morsi would work to be “president for all Egyptians”, Coptics worry how Morsi’s election might result in a restriction of their …

Adieu France, So Long Stability
  19 Jun 2012     5:06 pm      Michael Fell

French Socialist President Francois Hollande’s newly elected government is planning to raise taxes on big companies while deterring businesses from engaging in layoffs by making that process more costly.
Hoping to nudge companies into investing rather than paying profits to shareholders, the government plans to impose a new 3% tax on dividends. Other plans include raising levies on capital gains, a special tax on banks and on energy companies, as well as imposition of government policies requiring the sale of profitable businesses in lieu of closure.
France’s Socialist government will dictate that …

Fundraise and Fore! obama’s Answer to World Events
  19 Jun 2012     6:23 am      Michael Fell

Israel issued warnings over security problems with Egypt. Militants from the Sinai Peninsula crossed over into southern Israel Monday and fired on a border security fence, killing one Israeli. The IDF moved tanks and otherarmed forces to the Israel-Egypt border in response to the attack. Egypt is on the offensive against Israel.
Egypt’s presidential election results lean towards victory for Mohammed Morsi, the radical Islamist Muslim Brotherhood candidate. Thanks at least in part to vocal White House support for the “Arab Spring”, which ushered the Muslim Brotherhood to Egypt’s presidency, Egypt …

One of the knocks against Americans . . .
  16 Jun 2012     6:19 am      Craig Newmark

. . . is that we should be more “sophisticated”. You know, like Europeans. Particularly the French. Well, excusez-moi, count me out.
“The Rust Belt of France: Montpellier“.
And that’s kind of what the French do; they play deaf and blind to the glaring social problems around them, preferring instead to think of their country in the same idealized terms my wife and I once thought of it. It’s almost possible to do this in Montpellier if you never go to Mosson or Figuerolles-Gambetta, or if you steer clear of the crustpunks and …

The International Conference on Global Governance vs. National Sovereignty, sponsored by American Freedom Alliance, concluded Monday in Los Angeles CA.
The chief question posed at the Conference’s opening: Is Global Governance vs. National Sovereignty the West’s next ideological war?
John Bolton, Former U.S. Ambassador to the UN gave Sunday morning’s Keynote Speech. Ambassador Bolton spoke from first hand experience, sharing front line knowledge accumulated through years of engagement in international diplomacy. He not only gave definition to the term “the Global Governance Movement”, he also described its agenda, which is to subvert …

Europe Won’t Work in America
  8 Jun 2012     4:00 pm      Michael Fell

Spain’s economy is under such duress that the country is prepared to request a 40 billion Euro cash injection from the Euro zone this weekend. The request comes after Fitch Ratings reduced Spain’s credit by three notches on Thursday. This move will make Spain the fourth country to need a bailout since the European debt crisis began. The Spanish banking sector’s weakness and contagion from Greece’s debt crisis have put Spain’s economy in such a precarious position that the International Monetary Fund reported a need for 90 billion Euros to …

A Year of Historic Elections
  25 May 2012     5:42 pm      Michael Fell

The year 2012 is rapidly becoming a year of historic elections.
Greece held one recently where no single Party won enough of the vote to form a government. In ensuing weeks no progress was made by the nation’s Parties while negotiating to form a coalition. This potentially could lead to a chaotic situation, not just for Greece. The eventual outcome might lead to that country’s exit from the Eurozone. The fragmentation or an unraveling of the Eurozone or the European Union would have enormous impact on Europe as well as a …
