The Tea Party vs The Status Quo
23 Mar 2012

Michael Fell
Much has been said since the November 2010 election about “establishment Republicans” co-opting Senators and Representatives elected with Tea Party support.
What “establishment Republicans” evidently refuse to accept is, every Republicans elected in November 2010 owes huge thanks to the Tea Party. “Establishment Republicans” need to understand that Tea Party grassroots activists have had enough of their “learn your place and do as you’re told” attitude towards the Tea Party.
In America’s recent political past, there was the “Silent Majority”. “Establishment Republicans” need to understand that the Tea Party is the “Silent …

American Cancer Society Attacks Me by Name Over California Tax Grab?
19 Mar 2012
3:05 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Oddly enough, a coalition of big tax hikers in California, including the American Cancer Society, has attacked me by name for daring to write about Proposition 29, a California ballot measure that will appear on this year’s ballot. Prop 29 will force Californians to foot the costs of nearly a billion dollars in new and unnecessary spending on the airy claim that the funding will somehow cure cancer and stop kids from smoking. Sounds a bit like Obama’s claims that his election would lower sea levels, stop global warming, make …

Rush Limbaugh Is Not The Problem
4 Mar 2012
1:11 am
Michael Fell
This is not a defense of Rush Limbaugh. Rush can take care of himself. This is about a much bigger problem within a much bigger picture.
Have you seen the latest hit piece on Yahoo’s Destination 2012 web-site by David Crary of the Associated Press? Not surprisingly, this latest salvo is aimed directly at Rush Limbaugh. Contrary to the opinion being fostered by the institutionalized “progressive” left smear machine and their eager lapdogs in the “progressive” Party Pravda, Rush Limbaugh is not the problem.

Who’s Offering Economic Solutions?
25 Feb 2012

Michael Fell
Given America’s growing national debt, now in excess of $15 trillion:

A per capita government debt that’s worse than Greece’s:
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/chart-america-s-capita-government-debt-worse-greece_631797.html
Unemployment numbers “officially” listed at 8.5%:

Petroleum prices trending higher, adding pain at the pump for consumers while decreasing money available to them for spending on vital necessities like food and shelter:

A statement like: “America’s in need of economic solutions” is certainly far from a stretch. Many would say such a statement falls more into the “You have a firm grasp of the obvious” category.
The questions are:
Who will offer the solutions? What solutions …

The state of NJ wants to be your landlord
19 Feb 2012
10:25 am
Chris Wysocki
I saw this doozy earlier in the week and forgot to blog about it until a friend emailed last night, “can you believe it?” Sadly yes, I can believe just about anything when it comes to progressive do-gooders looking to save the world.
Some New Jersey politicians want to buy up foreclosed properties and turn them into “affordable housing.”
Two senior Democrats today outlined a measure to let municipalities and a state corporation buy foreclosed homes and offer them to low- and moderate-income residents in an effort to increase the supply …

Newspapers Defend Their Crony Capitalism: Outdated Monopoly on Public Notices
17 Feb 2012
2:46 pm
Rachel Alexander
Ever wonder why taking out a public notice costs so much money? It shouldn’t be that way. With the demise of print newspapers, it no longer makes sense to require that public notices be published only in newspapers. More people have access to the internet now than subscribe to print newspapers. Yet print newspapers have successfully fought tooth and nail over the past 10 years to keep their government-sanctioned monopoly of publishing public notices in place. Every year, powerful newspaper lobbyists convince Republican state legislators to vote against their principles …

Obama’s Budget: More Tax, Borrow and Spend
13 Feb 2012
5:57 pm
Michael Fell
The White House presented its 2012 budget Monday. A $3.8 trillion proposal which includes $1.43 trillion in new taxes on households whose incomes meet or exceed $250,000 (note: this is the new “progressive” definition of millionaires and billionaires), a fourth straight year of $1 trillion-plus deficit spending (which will require yet more borrowing), and new mandatory spending intended for the Education and Energy Departments.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0212/72792.html
As has been the case for the past three years, the White House pays lip service to calls for reduced spending. There are no efforts made to …

Good News! Electric Car Subsidies Help The 1%!
10 Jan 2012
9:32 am
William Teach
Who profits from the electric car subsidies? This should make the Occupiers unhappy, but, since they support Obama and the Democrats overwhelmingly, they will barely make a peep
(Fox News) Once again, going green has taxpayers seeing red. This time however, billions in federal subsidies for electric vehicles are going those who need them the least: the 1 percent.
According to the CEO of General Motors, the average annual income of buyers of the Chevy Volt is $170,000. Those who buy the luxury electric Fisker Karma or Tesla roadster earn more than …

A Fair Shake
6 Dec 2011
4:16 pm
Michael Fell
Once again, the current White House occupant is spending your money to fly in Air Force One to a campaign stop. The location of his many stops varies, but his message doesn’t. He continues to cry out for everyone in America to get a fair shake. According to America’s emperor wannabe, the rich are preventing the middle class from getting a fair shake because the rich are somehow depriving the middle class because they don’t pay enough taxes. Last time I checked, which was about five minutes ago, the top …

Union Boss Gets Free State Money for Kid’s College Tuition
28 Nov 2011
1:23 pm
Warner Todd Huston
You might recall in October when it was discovered that a few union bosses had paid off Illinois lawmakers to write a law that allowed union bosses to serve as a substitute teacher for one day in order to qualify them for state pensions for life. Well, apparently one of those union bosses also got freebies from the state for his kids and extended family.
Steven Preckwinkle, the Director of the Illinois Federation of Teachers, not only got a free pension for life paid for by the taxpayers of Illinois after …

There Isn’t More Political ‘Polarization,’ There’s More Government
23 Nov 2011
1:52 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Ron Fournier of the National Journal has committed the same mistake in political analysis that far too many others on both sides of the aisle make. He thinks, like many do, that there is somehow more “polarization” in Washington today than ever. Like all the others, he’s wrong. There isn’t any more than there’s ever been.
He then leaps to the claim that the political system is “broken.” It really isn’t.
Fournier goes on to make an even more egregious mistake assuming that this “polarization” will cause the rise of a third …

Fifty Percent Welfare Nation
11 Nov 2011
12:23 pm
Rachel Alexander
It has become all too easy today to receive government assistance. Half of all babies born in the U.S. today receive food assistance, and half of all children live in a home that will use food assistance at some point during their childhood. 40 percent of the population in Washington, D.C. is on welfare. Between 2000 and 2010 the number of Americans receiving food assistance more than doubled, expanding to over 47 million, which is more than one-seventh of the population. Forty years ago, only 4.3 million Americans received food assistance. According to a …

Obama-Emperor Less Than Zero’s Open Deceit
25 Oct 2011
5:05 pm
Michael Fell
The current White House occupant is spending taxpayer money (again) flying around the country going to fundraisers (again) extrapolating on his 2012 re-election strategy to blame Republicans for the failure of policies implemented by himself, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi (again). Now he’s going around a “do nothing Congress” (see the U.S. Senate, controlled by “progressive” Democrats) via Executive Order (again).
Never mind that when emperor less than zero was a State and/or U.S. Senator, ruling by decree was a gianormous NO NO. Now that he (a self imagined and self appointed member …

Live Tweeting Obama’s Jobs Speech: More Big Government Boondoggles
8 Sep 2011
9:31 pm
Warner Todd Huston
As I often do, I live Tweeted Obama’s address to the joint session of congress, but for sure this speech was little else but yet another plea from Obama for giant piles of government money to be thrown around in a bacchanalia of Keynesian spending. He may not have used the newly verboten word “stimulus,” but that is really all he was offering; another giant stimulus program.
His “jobs” program was nothing but a sop to government unions. Worse his claim that it is “aid for” by attacking the eeeevil rich …

Oh, My: Obama Ag Secretary Vilsack Says Food-stamps Put People Back to Work
17 Aug 2011
7:45 am
Doug Ross
One in seven Americans (another Obama record!) is now on food stamps. Asked how the federal government might alleviate those high numbers, Obama Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack proclaimed that food stamps are “putting people to work“.
No s***. He really said that.
Well, obviously, it’s putting people to work. Which is why we’re going to have some interesting things in the course of the forum this morning. Later this morning, we’re going have a press conference with Secretary Mavis and Secretary Chu to announce something that’s never happened in this …

U.K. Riots: What Liberalism Has Wrought
11 Aug 2011
12:36 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Britain is burning.
It will be here soon enough, the rampaging bands of useless youths coursing through England destroying property and looting stores as they go. Why will it be here? Because our liberal elites look to Britain as the model for where we should go and are actively attempting to force us down that destructive, immoral path.
For several nights, now, the ignorant, selfish, half-wild, cretins that the British call their children have been waging war with common decency. They have been looting the nation’s soul. And why? Because liberals …

A Succinct Explanation Of America’s Social Security/Medicare Crisis
2 Aug 2011
12:00 am
John Hawkins
The ultimate issue is that over the years, the cost of Social Security and Medicare has escalated dramatically and the government, being the government, has failed to demand that people pay as much into the programs as they’re going to take out.
That worked out okay for awhile because of the population bubble created by the birth of the baby boomers. There were so many people paying into the system that it didn’t matter that everyone wasn’t paying his own way.
However, the baby boomers are now starting to retire and there’s …
