Ted Turner’s Son: CNN So Far Left, ‘I Have a Hard Time Watching’
24 Mar 2013
6:29 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Ted Turner’s son, Teddy, recently appeared on the Steve Malzberg show for a visit and when the topic turned to CNN, his dad’s cable TV network, he didn’t hold back. The network is “pretty much to the left,” Teddy Turner said.
The Turner scion then went on to note that because CNN is so far left, “I have a hard time watching them a lot of times.”
Teddy Turner also says he once warned the executives at CNN that the, “left is not the way to go in talk radio or in …

Oscar Intrigues: Entertainment, Politics, and “The Perfect Companion”
25 Feb 2013

Anna Maria Hoffman
by Tyler O’Neil
Last night, Americans saw a real treat. The Academy presented the Oscars, and not every movie-goer was satisfied with the awards, but there was something for everyone in last night’s festivities.
The audience–in person and across the airwaves–got to see more than fashion last night. Thrills included a star performance by Adele, whose “Skyfall” won best original song, “One More Day,” an all-encompassing number from Les Miserables, sung in person by all the major characters, and even a cameo from the First Lady, Michelle Obama. While Michelle announced the winner for …

NY Times Really Concerned About Newest “Die Hard” Movie And Link To Gun Violence
12 Feb 2013

Here’s Joe Nocera writing an op-ed for the NY Tomes, The ‘Die Hard’ Quandry, in which he’s really, really concerned
Later this week, the fifth installment of the “Die Hard” movies is scheduled to open in theaters across the country. “A Good Day to Die Hard” stars, once again, Bruce Willis as John McClane, a too-stubborn-for-his-own-good cop who has to stop a highly trained army of bad guys out to wreak destruction and death. It will undoubtedly be a giant hit for Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, the owner of the “Die …

Hawaii Five-O’s Anti-Gun Tirade
6 Feb 2013
6:01 pm
Warner Todd Huston
On the Monday’s broadcast of the long awaited remake of a popular 1970s era episode of Hawaii Five-O, one of the main characters went on a rant against “gun nuts” and the lack of both strict regulations and a pervasive, privacy-invading registration process. But later in the show the same character was apologetic over not having a warrant to review records of owners of post office boxes because it is an invasion of their right to privacy.
The episode, titled “Hookman,” is a remake of the 1973 fan favorite from the …

Actor John Leguizamo a Big Fan of Big Government
28 Jan 2013
4:02 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Actor John Leguizamo refuses to employ any cagey politically correct speak about his love for big government. There’s no dancing around or soft-pedaling with him. For Leguizamo, big government is all good.
In a recent interview with Nicholas Ballasy, the actor asked “What’s wrong with big government?”
“I’ve never had a problem with big government. I’ve felt our country’s always done best during Eisenhower, FDR, when we had we had big government … We’re not in a fascist state, so what’s the problem with big government? It’s not a problem. It makes …

Larry King: That Piers Morgan is Awfully Self-Absorbed, Isn’t He?
13 Jan 2013

Warner Todd Huston
For years Larry King hosted the CNN show that is now helmed by British import Piers Morgan. Now King has opened up about his replacement and his pronouncement is not very flattering. King thinks Morgan makes the show too much about Morgan.
For those who remember, Larry King was more about being a conduit for the guests to entertain and enlighten viewers. His idea, perhaps an old fashioned TV ideal, was to make the show less about Larry King and more about the guests his viewers tuned in to watch.
King was …

Fiscal Cliff Capitulation Includes Payoff to Hollywood
2 Jan 2013

Dave Blount
Hollyweird doesn’t back Obama to the hilt out of sheer moral depravity alone. Loyal support buys it a lucrative seat at the table:
Section 317 of the freshly approved [fiscal cliff] legislation includes an extension for “special expensing rules for certain film and television productions.” Congress first enacted production tax incentives favorable to the domestic entertainment industry in 2004, and extended them in 2008, but the deal was meant to expire in 2011.
The fiscal cliff deal extends the tax incentives through 2013 — even as payroll taxes rise on ordinary …

Hollyweird Proves It Can Still Hit New Lows
13 Dec 2012

Dave Blount
To put it mildly, they don’t make westerns like they used to. Once they illustrated honorable values and were suitable for the whole family to watch. Now, Hollywood excretes filth like the upcoming Django Unchained, tastelessly scheduled to open Christmas Day and starring the atrocious Jamie Foxx.
A screening of the film on Tuesday led to reviews that warn of extreme violence and excessive cursing.
‘Quite naturally, given the historical setting, the N-word gets a heavy workout, by whites and blacks alike. But much more forceful is the cruelty dispensed by the …

Barack Obama Rewards Korean Rapper Who Called For The Murder of American Citizens
10 Dec 2012

Barack Obama doesn’t love this country. Never has, never will. Anyone who paid attention already knew he wasn’t patriotic. Before he was elected, Obama didn’t hold his hand up for the pledge of Allegiance. He made a big deal out of not wearing a flag pin. He sat in Jeremiah Wright’s anti-white, anti-Semitic, anti-American church for 20 years which is something no one who loved his country would ever do. He spent his first term apologizing for America and bowing to dictators.
Now, Barack Obama not only attended a concert …

College Professors Lose Hours Because of Obamacare
27 Nov 2012
3:01 pm
Warner Todd Huston
One of my favorite stories this week is the college professors at Pennsylvania’s Community College of Allegheny who’ve had their hours cut because of the costly requirements of Obamacare.
One of Obamacare’s changes to general business practices is to make people who work 30 hours or more a “full time worker.” For generations that magic number was 40 hours a week. But now that Obamacare is forcing this change to what is considered a full-timer, businesses across the country are forced to change policies and cut the hours of employees to …

At the Boulder Theater in Colorado, the Denver-based rock band DeVotchKa performed a stage show that featured the ritual beheading of Mitt Romney in a pseudo Mayan beheading scene.
The DeVotchKa stage show featured the beheading of Mitt Romney
The October 26 performance of the Day of The Dead-like experience kicked off the concert with stilt-walkers, skeletons, acrobats and Mayanesque, befeathered characters roaming the stage.
The segment culminated in the “ritual beheading” of a band member sporting a Mitt Romney mask.
A medley of DeVotchKa’s hit seems to be a song titled How …

NCIS: Los Angeles — Of Republican Pigs and Democrat Saviors
26 Oct 2012
12:19 pm
Warner Todd Huston
In chronicling the left-wing drum beat viewers are constantly subjected to by the entertainment industry we often find TV episodes that are stuffed full of anti-conservative messages and with this week’s NCIS: Los Angeles we were treated to one of the most blatant examples that has hit the airwaves in quite sometime.
The October 23 episode of the lesser of the NCIS series, titled Dead Body Politic, wasn’t like most TV shows where they slyly slip in a few anti-conservative comments here and there in a sort of unobtrusive manner. No, …

Porn Addiction at Crisis Level
25 Oct 2012

Rachel Alexander
More than 50% of men now look at pornography regularly, thanks to easy access and constant bombardment of images on the internet. No one wants to talk about it. Society generally looks the other way at pornography, dismissing it as harmless “men’s entertainment.” The reality is that it is extremely addictive, and along with the addiction comes life-destroying side effects. It puts the addict into a creepy bondage that affects the lives of those around him or her. It is not a victimless crime. It has become a chilling epidemic that …

Did Steven Spielberg Say the GOP is Just Like the Slave Holding South?
11 Oct 2012
6:32 pm
Warner Todd Huston
As he unveiled his epic new movie based on Abraham Lincoln’s civil war era presidency, Steven Spielberg said he doesn’t want his film to become a “political football” in today’s presidential election. But as he talked about it further, it seemed as if he went on to say that today’s Republican party is somehow just like the slave-holding Democrats of the antebellum south.
That’s right, Spielberg implied that today’s Republicans are just like the old south’s racist Confederates.
These comments were delivered during a Q & A at the New York Film …

Known Thug Alec Baldwin Claims U.S. ‘Will Never Be Great Again’ Under Romney
28 Sep 2012
3:00 pm
Warner Todd Huston
Alec Baldwin is warning the country. “America will never be great again under a Romney administration,” the volatile actor sonorously intoned in a recent, rambling Huffington Post screed.
If Mitt Romney is elected, Baldwin tells us, only “rich people” will find the country great. “Everyone else will be asked to dial down their [sic] expectations of what it means to be an American, again,” he warns.
It is clear that Mr. Baldwin isn’t paying attention to his fellow Americans because as a nation we are already lowering our expectations for the …

SyFy Channel Loves Union Protesters, Hates Those Darn Company Owners

One of the biggest hit series on the science fiction cable channel SyFy is Warehouse 13, a show where federal agents traipse about the country recovering “artifacts” that have dangerous, other worldly powers. But on Monday’s episode, the show indulged a few real world, left-wing political tropes by slamming capitalism, praising unions and attacking southerners.
[Spoiler alert]
The plot of the show centered around the recovery of an “artifact” hidden somewhere in a West Virginia steel mill that is undergoing a union strike.
Naturally, as soon as the agents get to the steel …
