Why occupy Oval Office’s Approval Numbers Aren’t Lower
  16 Dec 2011     1:59 pm      Michael Fell

Many rightfully question why the approval numbers for the current White House occupant, hereafter referred to as occupy Oval Office, are not lower. How could such a proven incompetent’s numbers remain higher than the low thirties?
The answer is simple if you know how to read the tea leaves. Submitted for your review are important factors:
The only thing the “stimulus” did was redistribute wealth borrowed from China to broke, fiscally irresponsible States so they could continue to fund unsustainable public employee union contracts, and to the pockets of occupy Oval Office’s …

The New Deal Was A Failure: Hoover and FDR Prolonged the Great Depression with Big Government
The Center for Freedom and Prosperity Foundation explains how the statist policies of Presidents Hoover and Roosevelt lengthened and deepened the Great Depression. The video also briefly explains how reductions in the burden of government spending helped the economy recover from a deep recession after World War I and to grow after World War II.

Even NY Times Doubtful About California Boondoggles
10 Dec 2011     11:36 am      Warner Todd Huston

You know a government project is headed for disaster when even the New York Times becomes skeptical about it.
In a recent article, the “newspaper of record” interviewed several public officials, transportation experts and historians who raise “serious objections” about the viability of California’s High-Speed Rail project — a project created by a ballot initiative.
Each critic cites cost overruns, inflated ridership projections and questionable travel routes as reasons why this transportation project a ballot measure funded by taxpayers is going to cost billions more than expected — and literally create …

Help Stop The High Cost of Federal Regulations
7 Dec 2011     11:31 am      Warner Todd Huston

(The House of Representatives is voting on this bill today…)
One of the reasons that our economic recovery has been so slow is that the Obama administration has opened a continuous avalanche of regulations affecting jobs, hampering businesses, and costing all of us billions in lost revenue, taxation, and waste. But there is a bill in the House called the REINS Act that could help tamp down this avalanche, save us all money, help bring back the creation of jobs that aren’t being created now.

The full name of the act …

CNN Soft Peddles ‘Occupy’ Lawbreaking, Asks if Police Have ‘Sympathy’ With Occupiers
3 Dec 2011     10:00 am      Warner Todd Huston

On November 30, CNN’s T. J. Holmes gave us a great example of how the Old Media is soft peddling the law breaking going on at the Occupy events in order to make these events seem far less dangerous and illicit than they are. Like many in the Old Media, Holmes seems desperate to give lawbreaking Occupiers as much cover as possible — a benefit they never offered the Tea Partiers.
In an interview with an L.A. city police commander about the clearing of Occupy Los Angeles, Holmes did his best …

With the Economy Down, Obama Looks to Help Big Labor Make it Worse
30 Nov 2011     1:02 pm      Warner Todd Huston

With this week’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing of American Airlines, we again see the results of unions having a hand in destroying American businesses. We also saw GM laid low by union demands costing Americans billions in bailouts. But despite these lessons of the recalcitrance of Big Labor forcing even worse calamities on our jobs climate in this dismal economy, Obama is about to make matters worse by using his powers to regulate to further harm both our business sector and our economy.
Obama likes to stand before the American …

The Chevy Volt: Detroit’s Hottest Car (Cuz They Catch on Fire and Stuff)
29 Nov 2011     1:04 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Government Motors has finally found its hottest car and the Chevy Volt is it. Unfortunately for Chevy, it isn’t because it is popular. It’s because the car seems to catch on fire a lot. Industry watchers are preparing for the Volt to undergo a recall to fix whatever problem the car’s lithium-ion battery pack has that seems to be causing the vehicles to spontaneously burst into flames.
Of course, this little catching on fire problem seems emblematic with everything about Government Motors. After President Barack “Lee IaJokka” Obama pumped $53 billion …

How Radical is Obama? This Radical…
29 Nov 2011     8:00 am      Warner Todd Huston

Barack Obama is very successful at one thing: the bait and switch. He stands before America presenting a picture of a hard-working moderate and claims that he wants to work with the Republicans to get things done. In reality he won’t even meet with them. He talks about compromise, but never offers any. He mouths kind words abut the business sector but uses his powers to make new regulations to destroy its profitability. In short, he’s a radical even though he doesn’t play one on TV. His modus operandi is …

Return To Free Market Principles
  23 Nov 2011     4:48 pm      Michael Fell

If we’re to form conclusions based on the behavior of our elected officials, the United States government being over $15 trillion in debt is a minor concern.
It looks like figuring out how to cut spending is simply too adult a puzzle for ”progressives” in the Senate and the White House. What else can the average American conclude from the recent actions of these overpaid, irresponsible feeders from the public trough? How on God’s green earth can hard working people, many struggling just to make ends meet, expect these elected officials …

There Isn’t More Political ‘Polarization,’ There’s More Government
23 Nov 2011     1:52 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Ron Fournier of the National Journal has committed the same mistake in political analysis that far too many others on both sides of the aisle make. He thinks, like many do, that there is somehow more “polarization” in Washington today than ever. Like all the others, he’s wrong. There isn’t any more than there’s ever been.
He then leaps to the claim that the political system is “broken.” It really isn’t.
Fournier goes on to make an even more egregious mistake assuming that this “polarization” will cause the rise of a third …

Obama Fundraiser Tony Rezko Gets 10.5 Year Prison Sentence
22 Nov 2011     2:35 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Antonin “Tony” Rezko, a long-time Political fundraiser for Illinois Democrats, has been sentenced to 10 1/2 years in prison for extorting millions from companies seeking state business or hoping to have favorable regulations written for them by government. The money was sought as donations to politicians such as disgraced former Governor Rod Blagojevich — Rezko was his top fundraiser — and President Barack Obama.
Rezko, a Chicago real estate developer, has been involved in shady deals with Democrats for a long time but has until now escaped any consequences for his …

Democrats, Sen. Schumer Shut Down Citizen’s Forum
22 Nov 2011     12:57 pm      Warner Todd Huston

You know, it is unfortunate that the Democrat Party’s name has the word “democracy” as it root because the modern Democrat Party is 100% opposed to both democracy and our system of government. Senator Chuck “Hitman” Schumer just proved this to be true once again.
Last week Senator Mike Lee (R, Utah) had reserved a room in the Senate and invited a retinue of Tea Party representatives and the folks of Freedom Works to discuss the Tea Party Budget proposal drawn up by Freedom Works.

Everything was duly arranged and the participants …

California Ballot Boondoggle Sends Tax Dollars Out of State
20 Nov 2011     12:56 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Despite all the talk of fixing it, California’s budget is still a mess. One of those “fixes” was implemented last summer when the state Legislature increased revenue projections by $4 billion to avoid balancing the budget. Of course, the problem with using such “phantom money” is that it often has a habit of disappearing when you need it most. And it has disappeared just when money for schools is needed. Now deep cuts are on the table. The people lose again.
Naturally the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office recently reported …

Botox-laden swamp-drainer made $100K in two days by savvy investing and blocking legislation, but mostly blocking legislation
  16 Nov 2011     1:28 am      Doug Ross

Retail investors would love to learn former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s investing secrets, which magically increased her net worth 62% during the worst of the financial crisis (spiking her portfolio’s value from $22 million to $35.2 million in a year’s time).
CBS News explains how the Botox-laden, swamp-draining, small business-stiffing Pelosi made her millions:
The former speaker and her husband have participated in at least eight IPOs, one of which was from Visa in 2008 – just as a troublesome piece of legislation that would have hurt credit card companies began making its …

Rancho Cordova Blast Fine Too Low to Assure Future Public Safety
15 Nov 2011     11:55 am      Warner Todd Huston

In 2008 a pipeline operated by Pacific Gas & Electric exploded destroying several homes and killing 72-year-old Wilbert Paana. Since that time authorities have been attempting to determine what sort of fines PG&E should face for its negligence. Recently administrative law judge John Wong proposed that a fine of $38 million — and an end to the whole matter — would be enough. But is this enough to assure the protection and safety of California’s ratepayers?
To his credit, Judge Wong rejected an even lower proposal of a $26 million …

‘Swag Industry’ Whines About Obama Cutoff
12 Nov 2011     1:04 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Warning, here you will see me praise President Barack Obama. Last week the President issued a directive for his various agencies to cut down department spending and one of those ways he targeted to achieve that was to cut out “swag” — items such as coffee mugs, pens, or other items with department logos that are given away for free, items we are paying for with our tax money.
Obama thought that a good way to stop wasteful government spending would be to cut out the T-Shirts, coffee mugs, pens, and …

Ripping Off California at the Speed of High Speed Rail
9 Nov 2011     12:40 pm      Warner Todd Huston

One of President Obama’s favorite go-to items to “stimulate” the economy is building new rail lines, especially high-speed rail. Many states have been smart enough to cancel the high-speed rail projects, but oh, not California. California’s project rolls inexorably onward. Still, California does help show the rest of the country why high-speed rail is a boondoggle that should be avoided.
The high-speed rail line that is being built between San Diego and San Francisco was initially sold to California voters as a $40 billion project with Prop 1A back in 2008. …

Abe Lincoln and His Convicted Felon Pal, Bill Cellini?
8 Nov 2011     12:51 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Corruption in Illinois strikes again. This is the kind of nonsense that we get with political influence peddling and corruption. A painting that now hangs in the new Lincoln library and museum in our state capitol has a ridiculous tie to long-time Springfield corruption king Bill Cellini, who was just last week convicted on charges of extortion and bribery.
Standing behind Lincoln whispering in his ear is a person that looks suspiciously like the corrupt Cellini.

According to The Southern, Bill isn’t the only Cellini memorialized in paint at the museum. His …

Oops! Rich Got Richer Under Obama And Clinton
  7 Nov 2011     8:53 am      William Teach

Are you Occupiers ready to abandon Obama yet, and apologize to George W. Bush? Because Bush was better for the middle class (via Gateway Pundit)
(Investors Business Daily) In his weekend radio address, President Obama decried that “over the past three decades, the middle class has lost ground while the wealthiest few have become even wealthier.” Although he was trying to leverage the Occupy Wall Street movement, the income gap has been a longstanding concern of his.
During the 2008 campaign, Obama said, “The project of the next …
