America’s Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, Stands Alone Against Unions And Outsiders in Recall Effort
11 Apr 2013     2:40 am      Warner Todd Huston

Only three weeks after re-election in 2012, Sheriff Joe Arpaio was hit with a recall effort. Now, with anti-Arpaio petitions in circulation in Maricopa County, Arizona, “America’s Sheriff” is organizing his forces to oppose a recall backed by the deep pockets of the unions, millions in outside money, and a flood of non-Arizonans arriving to act as the left-winger’s ground troops. (See www.savesheriffjoe.org)
Arpaio’s team is being ramrodded by the Conservative Business League and unlike the opposition’s recall efforts, the CBL is an Arizona-based organization. The duo taking the helm of …

Two Quick Examples of U.S. Government Lies in Labels
8 Apr 2013     2:42 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Political fancy talk is always fascinating. By this I mean, the essential lies that government tells by re-naming something to make it sound benign or even beneficial when it is really just another anti-American, liberty-killing government initiative, or giving it a harsh label in order to destroy whatever activity that government wants destroyed. Here I have two recent examples of these.
Now, by “re-naming” things to sound better, I mean things such as the so-called “Employee Free Choice Act.” This is a law that actually takes choice away from employees and …

Barack Obama: The Best Lying Demagogue Ever to Infest the White House
7 Apr 2013     5:17 pm      Warner Todd Huston

As he disgustingly used law enforcement officials as a back drop in Colorado, President Obama uttered a few lines about his un-Constitutional gun grabbing policy ideas that truly proves he’s the best lying demagogue to ever sit in the Oval Office.
Obama had a message about elected officials, who they are, and what they want to do about Obama’s anti-Second Amendment crusade. But his phrasing of the subject is particularly interesting. He turned the truth on its head, made anyone that stands for the Second Amendment into a nut case, …

Should Congressional Staffers Have Their Private Twitter Accounts Published?
6 Apr 2013     8:53 pm      Warner Todd Huston

A Congressional watchdog group called LegiStorm has announced a sweeping new project aimed at government transparency. But part of that project has staffers on Capitol Hill crying foul because it lists all their private Twitter accounts.
On April 3, LegiStorm announced its new StormFeed tool saying it is a, “real-time, full-text searchable access to every official press release and official tweet from Capitol Hill plus the tweets of thousands of congressional staffers.”
But many staffers began to complain when they began finding their own private info on the thing. Worse, many found …

VP Biden Still Lobbying for Gun Control
4 Apr 2013     8:35 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Vice President Joe Biden is again plying the phones calling his former colleagues on Capitol Hill bending ears over the President’s gun control ideas. His calls are coming on a “near-daily basis” as Obama mounts another push for gun control.
Biden has held private meetings with Republican Senators such as John McCain (Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and, Johnny Isakson (Ga.), and will be haunting the offices of Capitol Hill in the days ahead.
It appears that President Obama is relying on Biden to leverage the relationships he had built when he was …

Alabama Lawmaker’s, Vile, Race-Tinged Email to Constituent
3 Apr 2013     1:19 am      Warner Todd Huston

A Jefferson County, Alabama man got a shock after he emailed a local State Representative when instead of a form reply, or a short, meaningless message, the state representative sent him a vile rant filled with taunts and race-tinged epithets.
When Jefferson County resident Eddie Maxwell sent an email to Alabama’s House members urging them to reject any new gun control measures, State Rep. Joe Mitchell (D, Mobile) responded with a virulent personal attack.
Using his official state government email account, Rep. Mitchell sent back a tirade that raised eyebrows across the …

USA Today: Two School Tragedies 23 Years Apart Is A “Familiar Pattern”
  2 Apr 2013     7:13 am      William Teach

If by a “tragically familiar pattern“, as their headline reads, they mean “Democrats attempting to take away Constitutional rights and punish the innocent for the crimes of the guilty”, well, yes. In 1989 a deranged gunman shot up a school (from outside) in Stockton, California with a “military-style rifle” (nice to know that the writer received the White House’s talking points about that)
The stunning attack 24 years ago, which left five elementary school children dead and 29 others wounded, was the nation’s “Sandy Hook” before last December’s massacre in Newtown, …

Biden On Gun Control: “This Is Just The Beginning”
  28 Mar 2013     8:13 am      William Teach

Someone let Joe Biden off his leash again, and he said something about gun control that we all figured
(The Blaze) Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday the expected upcoming Senate votes on gun control are only the beginning of the White House’s fight strengthen gun laws.
During a conference call organized by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Biden assured supporters that the push gun control would not end with the current proposed bill, saying, “Let me say this as clearly as I can: this is just the beginning,” according to the Washington …

Video: Phyllis Schlafly On the GOP Establishment, Karl Rove, Mitt Romney and Other ‘Losers’
28 Mar 2013     12:45 am      Warner Todd Huston

This year at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), I was fortunate enough to get some time to interview one of the most redoubtable conservative activists in the nation, Phyllis Schlafly. In this eighteen minute video you will encounter a woman that is extremely vital and at 89-years-of-age still sharp as a tack.
As is her wont, Schlafly eschewed kid gloves with her frank discussion of the GOP establishment and how those effete, east coast, country clubbers are at war with the conservative, Midwestern grassroots.

Take Schlafly’s description of “the establishment,” for …

Maddow: “Rights are not supposed to be open to popularity contests”
  27 Mar 2013     7:12 am      William Teach

In arguing in support for same sex marriage, Rachel Maddow‘s blog (the post is actually written by Steve Benen) actually makes the case that The Government, and we’re looking at mostly elected Democrats, should back off on gun control
Rights are not supposed to be open to popularity contests. Throughout American history, if all contentious decisions over civil rights were left solely to popular will and the political process, progress would have been very slow, indeed. It’s precisely why Americans have turned to their last available option — the courts — …

Colt Firearms Threatens to Leave Connecticut Over Strict Gun Laws
26 Mar 2013     7:40 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Continuing the trend of firearms related companies that have been contemplating moving their businesses out of states instituting strict gun control laws, Colt Manufacturing is now considering a move out of Connecticut after 175 years in business. This is due to the new gun bans being mulled by the state legislature and Democrat Governor Dannel Malloy.
Colt President and CEO Dennis Veilleux published an op ed in the Hartford Currant asking why it makes any sense that Colt Manufacturing stay in Connecticut.
Veilleux says that the “economic advantage” his company has brought …

These Senators Voted to Give Away Your Second Amendment Rights to the UN
25 Mar 2013     5:36 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Would you like to meet the Democrats that voted to destroy your Second Amendment rights? Would you like to meet those traitorous Senators that voted to give the power over your rights to the United Nations?
Fortunately, the odious, anti-American treaty was again voted down by the full Senate, but 46 Senators voted in favor of handing over our Constitutional rights to the UN.
Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) offered Amendment 139 that was passed with a 53 to 46 vote. His Amendment contained language to affirm that foreign treaties would not trump …

NY State No Longer Safe From 7 Bullet Magazine Limit
  25 Mar 2013     8:52 am      William Teach

First the State of New York rushed through legislation at Ludicrous Speed without, as usual for Democrats, bothering to read the legislation nor understand what was in it nor what it would do. There were all sorts of problems, such as failing to exempt police officers from the 7 round magazine limit. Plus others. Now we get
(Bloomberg) Governor Andrew Cuomo’s seven-round limit on magazines sold in New York will be suspended “indefinitely” by a measure in his $136.5 billion budget set to be passed this week, Dean Skelos, a Senate …

Pamela Geller on the Left’s ‘Stealth Jihad’ on Our Free Speech
22 Mar 2013     4:00 pm      Warner Todd Huston

Famed anti-jihad activist Pamela Geller made a splash with her appearance at the special Breitbart breakout panel, “The Uninvited,” at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
In true Breitbart fashion, Breitbart News–itself a sponsor of the 2013 CPAC–held its own panel and stocked it with some of those voices that were systematically prevented from officially speaking at the conservative event. Seeking to engage with voices beyond those approved by both the Old Media and the GOP establishment, Breitbart News sponsored “The Uninvited,” a panel featuring topics, experts, and personalities that …

Epic Pro-2nd Amendment Testimony In Connecticut
  21 Mar 2013     7:12 am      William Teach

Just an ordinary, average citizen who realizes that yes, there is a Constitution, and yes, evil exists
(The Blaze) Meet Robert Steed, a resident of Vernon, Conn. who took three days straight off work to attend several gun control hearings in Connecticut. On March 14, Steed was more “aggravated” than usual with lawmakers and he let them know it in his fiery testimony, telling them that they were “coloring outside the lines of constitutional parameters.”
He went on: “I can’t for the life of me understand how this state can have as …

Sources: NRA Won’t Oppose New Background Check Legislation
20 Mar 2013     1:01 am      Warner Todd Huston

A new reports claims that Senate insiders are saying that the National Rifle Association will not oppose new gun control measures that will require universal background checks on all gun sales, including those between private citizens, but only if certain records keeping requirements are removed.
NBC reports that unnamed Senate aides say that the NRA will not oppose Senator Chuck Schumer’s (D, NY) universal background check proposal (S. 436) if the bill does not require private gun owners to maintain records of the background checks filed with the government.
Officially the NRA …

ABC’s Latest Misleading Gun Poll
18 Mar 2013     7:42 pm      Warner Todd Huston

ABC has released the results of another gun poll claiming that support for background checks at gun shows has “vast public support.” But neither the poll nor ABC’s report notes that background checks already routinely occur at gun shows.
The poll focused on the various gun control bills currently coursing through Congress with one question asking whether or not respondents support “requiring background checks on people buying guns at gun shows.”
Pointing out that Congress is considering a bill (S. 436) that would expand background checks, ABC reports that “a nearly unanimous …

Piers Morgan: We All ‘Need The Nanny State Occasionally’
13 Mar 2013     5:00 pm      Warner Todd Huston

CNN’s Piers Morgan sees no reason why America shouldn’t turn into a nanny state. During his March 11 broadcast, Morgan insisted that, “people need the nanny state occasionally.”
With guest Christine Quinn, on his late evening CNN talk show Morgan lamented what he felt was a bad decision by a New York judge who shut down Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s soda ban. Morgan was all in for a politician deciding for all of us what we are and what we aren’t allowed to eat.
During the discussion, Quinn said she disagreed with banning …

Dear Government: You Can’t MAKE Me Buy A Gun, Either
10 Mar 2013     7:09 pm      Warner Todd Huston

I stand 100% against any government leach or placeman telling me I cannot have a gun. It is unconstitutional and violates my God-given civil rights. But, I am just as much against the same class of people telling me I must own a gun.
A town in Maine is the newest town to put in place a rule that mandates that residents buy and own a gun. This sort of rule has been known in small towns in Idaho, Georgia and Texas, as well. But this requirement is no more in …
